An Akron man has pleaded guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter following the shooting death of an acquaintance during an attempted robbery in August 2015.
Terry Tart, 38, of Doty Drive, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh’s office.
Walsh said Tart and Marcus Glover forced their way into the home of David Hillis in Akron on Aug. 7, 2015, and tried to rob Hillis at gunpoint.
The two men ran off with Hillis firing a gun at them.
Glover was about 70 yards away and off of Hillis’s property when he was shot in the head and died, according to the prosecutor.
Tart is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 7.
Hillis goes on trial on Tuesday after being charged with manslaughter with a gun specification.
