Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A West Cedar Street man, 41, was charged with aggravated burglary after police said he broke a window to enter a house. The resident came downstairs and saw the man standing in his kitchen with a pair of scissors. The resident charged the intruder with a steak knife and held him down until police arrived.

A Schiller Avenue man, 41, was charged with domestic violence after police said he pushed his girlfriend onto the couch and choked her. During the incident, their daughter yelled at him to stop, and he punched her in the head, police said.

A Kenmore Boulevard woman, 34, was charged with felony theft. Police said she sold her neighbor’s car after telling the salvage operation that she had ownership of the vehicle.

A Brandon Avenue man, 29, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, trafficking in heroin and corrupting another with drugs after police said he sold fentanyl to a man later found unresponsive inside his residence. The case dates to Sept. 15.

A Nathan Street man, 26, was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and gross sexual imposition after police said he went to the front door of a residence on Douglas Street and forced his way into the house at gunpoint. He then forced a woman onto a bed and began to fondle her. Police said he then rummaged through the house and took $5,000 and a mini iPad.

A Chardon man, 43, was charged with assault on a police officer and harassment by bodily fluids after police said he was involved in a fight with a barmaid in the 1800 block of South Arlington Street. While officers took him into custody, he attempted to kick and spit on them, then kicked an officer in the head.

A Peckam Street man, 32, was charged with domestic violence, menacing, endangering children and possession of heroin. Police said he punched his 11-year-old son in the face after harassing him and threatening to beat him up.

A Carroll Street man, 38, was charged with domestic violence after police said he got into an argument with his girlfriend, grabbed her, threw her around their apartment and bit her on her shoulder.

An Oakdale Avenue man, 24, and a Crosby Street man, 58, were charged with aggravated robbery after police said they held down their victim and robbed him.

A Rhodes Avenue woman, 29, was charged with burglary after police said she broke out a kitchen window and entered an apartment. The resident arrived home and found the woman inside. The woman fled, but blood samples taken from the scene led to her to identification.

A Mission Drive woman, 80, was charged with felony hit-skip after police said she hit a pedestrian with her vehicle and fled the scene. She also attempted to repair the damage to her vehicle without reporting the accident. The victim suffered broken bones and other injuries.

A Cleveland man, 19, was charged with breaking and entering after police said he rented a storage unit and used that access to enter a secured building and other storage units. Property belonging to other renters was taken, police said.

A Chandler Avenue man, 33, was charged with domestic violence after police said he slapped his wife in the face several times during an argument.

A Fess Street man, 27, was charged with domestic violence and disrupting public service after police said he attacked his girlfriend at their residence. She had multiple injuries to her face, head and neck, police said.

A Fifth Avenue man, 55, was charged with violation of a protection order after police said he went to an apartment on Cotter Avenue and became involved in a domestic dispute.

A man, 21, with no known address, was charged with theft of a credit card and misuse of a credit card after police said he took his father’s credit card and used it without consent.

Bath Township

Identity theft

A Short Hills Drive woman reported Feb. 9 that someone used her personal information to file a federal income tax return.

Coventry Township

Arrest

An East Pace Avenue man, 47, was charged with domestic violence Feb. 2 after deputies said he punched his girlfriend in the neck and face.

Misuse of credit cards

A Lake Vista Road woman told authorities Jan. 28 that her credit card number was used to make several purchases outside the United States. She suggested the theft occurred after she answered an email.

Thefts

Two handguns, total value $540, were reported stolen Jan. 29 from a Waterside Drive residence.

A Manchester Road resident told authorities Jan. 29 that in checking her Kohl’s credit card account she discovered $1,452 in unauthorized charges.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A High Street man, 34, was charged Feb. 8 with domestic violence. He is accused of pushing and kicking a 25-year-old woman.

A man, 48, and a woman, 49, both of Hidden Lake Lane, were charged Feb. 10 with obstructing official business. The woman also was charged with violating the noise ordinance. Police said the couple refused to cooperate or speak to police, who were at their home to issue a citation for a habitually barking dog.

An Akron man, 26, was charged Feb. 8 with assault. He is accused of punching another 26-year-old Akron man.

An Akron man, 38, was charged Feb. 4 with disorderly conduct and possession of cocaine after police said he passed out in the Red Fox, 1767 State Road. A 25-year-old man, also of Akron, was found in the same bar in possession of a loaded gun. He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon in a liquor establishment, carrying a concealed weapon and having a weapon while intoxicated.

Two Cuyahoga Falls High School students were charged Feb. 6 with theft. Police said one of the boys took a cash box containing more than $400 while the second student acted as a lookout.

A man, 27, and a woman, 31, both of Victoria Street, were charged Feb. 4 with domestic violence. They are accused of assaulting each other.

Breaking and entering

A business in the 500 block of Graham Road was broken into Feb. 9. Nothing appeared to be taken, but damage to windows was estimated about $1,000.

Burglaries

A home in the 1200 block of Wellingshire Circle was burglarized Feb. 5. A stove was taken.

Someone broke into a house for sale in the 100 block of Norton Heights Drive on Feb. 5. A gas fireplace and a box of golf balls were taken.

Identity theft

A Byrd Avenue man reported Feb. 5 that someone used his personal information to file an Ohio state tax return.

Public indecency

An employee of McDonald’s, 402 Howe Ave., reported Feb. 9 that an older white man drove past the drive-thru several times wearing only a jacket. She said the man occasionally would move the jacket, exposing his genitals.

Thefts

A 2013 Honda LX was taken from the parking lot of Applebee’s, 508 Howe Ave., on Feb. 11.

A package containing medication valued at $19,000 was taken from outside a residence in the 100 block of Chart Road on Feb. 5.

Fairlawn

Arrests

A Neal Court man, 22, was charged with criminal trespass after police investigated the theft of clothing from Dillard’s in Summit Mall. According to a report, a man flagged down police to report that three men had gone into the BP gas station, 3110 W. Market St., with a large amount of clothing with tags and asked the clerk for some plastic bags. Police located the men standing at a bus stop in front of the gas station and saw three bags and a backpack filled with new clothes on a bench near them. All three denied that the clothes belonged to them. After further questioning, the 22-year-old admitted he was inside Dillard’s, police said. A check of video surveillance showed him going into the fitting room with large amounts of clothing but could not determine if he was the person who took them. A check of Fairlawn Police Department records showed he had been banned from Dillard’s indefinitely for a prior theft in 2012. All the stolen merchandise was returned to the retailer.

An Akron woman, 35, was charged with theft Feb. 6 after an employee of Sephora, 3265 W. Market St., told police that the woman was seen on video surveillance selecting cosmetics, putting them into her purse and leaving store. Items valued at $397 were recovered.

On Feb. 7 an employee of Walmart, 3750 W. Market St., told police that three juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 17, had been detained on suspicion of shoplifting. They are accused of selecting seven cosmetic products totaling $46.70 while in the store, concealing the items in purses and trying to leave without paying. The three were charged and released to their mothers.

A Glendora Avenue man was charged with criminal trespass Feb. 10 after an employee of Dillard’s, 3265 W. Market St., reported that the man took several store shopping bags and stuffed them into his coat. He had been banned indefinitely from the mall in 2000 and from Dillard’s in 2014.

Forgery

A Raber Terrace resident told a Summit County investigator that he responded to an advertisement for a mystery shopper job and deposited a $1,904.50 check and wired money via Western Union before learning that $2,204.50 had been withdrawn after the wire was sent.

New Franklin

Arrests

A South Messner Road man, 20, and a Manchester Road man, 18, were charged with breaking and entering, burglary, criminal damaging and criminal mischief involving a West Nimisila Road residence Jan. 30. Police said six tires, total value $1,235, were slashed and several items were stolen. Police tracked them through footprints in the snow, according to the arrest report.

Norton

Theft

A woman, 22, reported Feb. 8 that someone took her wallet from a diaper bag in the children’s room at Grace Brethren Church, 3970 Cleveland-Massillon Road, on Feb. 8.

Springfield Township

Robbery

A clerk at Dollar General on South Arlington Road police told police Jan. 27 that a man gave her a note demanding money in the cash register. She did, and he fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Warrant

Police began looking for a Coach Lane man, 27, on Jan. 29 and obtained a warrant for theft and forgery, both felonies, after relatives said a man’s checkbook was stolen at the residence and attempts were made to cash one of the checks for $200.

Theft

An Alliance woman reported that she was at the Golden Corral on South Arlington Road on Jan. 31 and upon leaving found a window of her car broken and her purse and contents taken. Loss was estimated at $2,365.

Arrests

A Newton Falls man, 19, was charged Feb. 7 with domestic violence. He is accused of choking the mother of his child while they were in the 3500 block of Hudson Drive.

Sexual assault

Police are investigating a Feb. 8 report of sexual assault. A 14-year-old girl reported she was locked in a room against her will and assaulted.

Tallmadge

Arrest

An Akron man, 27, was charged Feb. 7 with public indecency. He is accused of masturbating inside Kmart. Police said the man told them he did not mean for anyone to see him.

Aggravated robbery

Police took a report of an aggravated robbery that occurred in the 600 block of South Avenue on Feb. 10.

Breaking and entering

Several storage units were broken into at Public Storage, 1561 Brittain Road, on Feb. 2.

Child pornography

Three incidents of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor were reported to Tallmadge police Feb. 11.

Illegal hunting

Police called to Nutwood Drive to investigate a call from a resident regarding two men dragging a deer out of the resident’s backyard followed a blood trail to a South Avenue residence. There, officers found two men skinning and cutting a deer. Officers found a bullet hole in the deer’s face. The men told police the deer was hit by a car.

Vehicle stuck

Officers were called Feb. 8 for a report of a vehicle stuck in a snow mound on Spruce Run. The vehicle was involved in a hit-skip accident earlier in the day in Middleburg Heights, police said.

Domestic dispute

Officers responded to a disturbance call Feb. 1 at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Stoneybrook Lane. A Medina man who had been fighting with his girlfriend was arrested because he was wanted on theft charges.

Criminal damage

Officers were called to a Wren Way residence Feb. 5 to take a complaint that an ex-husband was breaking into the house and wrecking it.

Montville Township

Suspicious vehicle

Police discovered a car left running Feb. 7 outside a Medina Road dealership that had closed for the night.

Arrests

A Doylestown man, 26, was charged Feb. 8 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting a 27-year-old woman at her Sandpiper Lane apartment.

A North Lawrence man, 20, was arrested during a traffic stop Feb. 8 on a felony warrant from North Carolina.

A Currie Hall Parkway man, 34, was charged Feb. 9 with receiving stolen property.

An East Grant Street man, 30, was charged Feb. 11 with domestic violence.

Arrests

A Canton woman, 44, of Columbus Avenue Northwest was arrested and jailed Feb. 2 on a warrant for passing bad checks.

Police charged a Traphagen Street Northwest woman, 21, with domestic violence Jan. 30 after officers said she told them she argued with her boyfriend at their home and struck him in the back of the head.

A Green man, 25, of Aldis Drive was charged with aggravated robbery Jan. 30 after police said he fought with a loss prevention associate at Sears in Belden Village Mall as he attempted to leave without paying for merchandise.

A Canton man, 23, of Cathy Drive Northeast was charged with burglary after police said he forced his way into an Amherst Road Northwest apartment Jan. 29.

Lake Township

Arrests

A Newbury Avenue Northwest man, 42, has been bound over to a Stark County grand jury on two counts of felony domestic violence, which allegedly occurred Jan. 29 and Feb. 2. On the latter date, he was accused of kicking his ex-wife in the leg, according to a sheriff’s deputy’s arrest report.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Canton man, 21, of Gonder Avenue Southeast on a charge of felony attempted burglary. A report said he was caught trying to gain entry at a Market Avenue North home.

Arrest

A Hoover High School student, 18, of 39th Street Northwest, Canton, was charged with felonious assault, possession of drugs and disorderly conduct after a struggle with security personnel and an assistant principal Feb. 4. A police report said the administration had the teen empty his pockets after they had received information he had marijuana in school and they found the drug.

An Orchardale Drive Northwest woman, 46, was charged with felony domestic violence Jan. 30 after deputies said she picked up a steak knife and threatened to stab her boyfriend.

Using a felony robbery warrant, authorities arrested a Massillon man, 23, of Johnson Street Southeast when he was found in the 4200 block of Harrison Avenue Northwest on Jan. 30.

Uniontown

Arrest

A Northdale Street Northwest woman, 44, was charged with domestic violence after police said she pushed the father of their baby against a wall and grabbed him by the neck during a dispute over custody of the child.

Theft

A trailer valued at $2,500 was reported stolen Jan. 30 from Bedrock Construction on Apache Street Northwest.

Arrests

A Navajo Street, Creston, man was charged with burglary and criminal trespass Jan. 30.

An Apple Creek man of the 5700 block of Dover Road was charged with burglary and theft of drugs Jan. 31.

A Wooster man of the 1100 block of Billiar Street was charged with deception to obtain drugs Feb. 2.

A Wooster man of the 400 block of Nold Avenue was charged Feb. 9 with aggravated trafficking.

A Burbank man, 21, and a Creston man, 19, were arrested Feb. 7 on charges of improperly handing a firearm in a vehicle, criminal trespass, possession of drugs, trespassing and improperly handling a firearm when they were stopped in a vehicle in the 13300 block of Franchester Road, West Salem.

A Wooster man of the 400 block of North Bever Street was charged Feb. 7 with breaking and entering, criminal trespass and criminal damaging.

A Wooster woman of the 8300 block of Blachleyville Road was charged Feb. 5 with grand theft and misuse of credit cards.

A Wooster woman, 31, of the 300 block of West Vine Street was charged Feb. 5 with permitting drug abuse, illegal manufacture of methamphetamine and assembly of chemicals.

A Wooster, 54, man of the 100 block of Palmer Street was charged Feb. 4 with drug manufacturing and cultivation, domestic violence and aggravated menacing after police said he struck his girlfriend.

Fire

Deputies reported Jan. 29 that a vehicle was on fire near WG Dairy Supply, 12993 Cleveland Road, Canaan Township. The business contained chemicals that are used by farmers. No one was injured.

Thefts

A woman, 74, reported Jan. 30 that her grandson had taken a credit card without permission from her residence in the 6400 block of Berkey Road, Chester Township, and used it to buy several items.

A woman reported Jan. 30 to a Wooster Township resident that a man had bragged that he had taken a Social Security check worth $2,100 from his mailbox in the 300 block of North Bauer Road.

Trespass

A Chester Township man reported Jan. 30 that someone broke a sliding-glass door at his home in the 6400 block of Berkey Road. Nothing was taken.

Vandalism

An employee of Real Estate Showcase in Wooster reported Jan. 30 that someone used a vehicle to damage the front porch of a home in the 13000 block of Clinton Road, Chippewa Township. Damage was estimated at $2,000.

Burglaries

Two guns, 200 movies and other items, total value $4,041, were reported stolen Feb. 5 from a residence in the 8400 block of Columbus Road, Clinton Township.

About 125 pills and $5 were reported stolen Feb. 9 from a residence in the 2800 block of Canal Road, Wooster Township.

Wooster

Arrests

A Wooster woman, 19, was charged Jan. 28 with theft and inducing panic after she allegedly chased a man on Billiar Street while holding a stolen shotgun. A witness tackled the woman to the ground. The man she had chased then threatened the witness with physical harm if he called police.

A Wooster man, 25, and a Wooster woman, 25, each were arrested Feb. 8 on a charge of assault after an 18-year-old Wooster woman accused them of assaulting her at a residence in the 300 block of East South Street. The man also was arrested Feb. 5 on an assault charge after police said he struck a 20-year-old man on Billiar Street.

Breaking and entering

A small piece of gold worth $25 and cash totaling $10,500 were reported stolen Jan. 31 from the office of the Wayne County Fairgrounds, 199 Vanover St.

A trailer at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, 199 Vanover Street, was reported damaged Feb. 7 but nothing was taken.

Burglaries

A scale and five pills were reported taken Feb. 9 from a residence in the 1900 block of Highland Park Road.

A television and a DVD player were reported stolen Feb. 6 from a home in the 600 block of High Street.

A refrigerator and a stove, total value $400, were reported stolen Jan. 20 from a home in the 100 block of East Henry Street.

Thefts

A Wooster resident of the 900 block of Northgate Drive reported Feb. 10 that 85 pills were taken from a purse at a home.

Five Percocet tablets and 12 sleeping pills were reported taken Feb. 9 from a residence in the 200 block of North Bever Street.

A bag of pills was reported taken Feb. 4 from a car in the 3500 block of Burbank Road.

Robbery

A Wooster man, 39, reported Jan. 22 that he gave a ride to a person in the 100 block of North Walnut Street. The man said that a struggle ensued and the person took $500 and a laptop computer worth $600 from him.
