Summit County

Akron

Arrests

An Akron man, 30, was charged with domestic violence with a previous conviction, endangering children and criminal damaging. Police said he entered the victim’s apartment and started a verbal argument, then hit and choked the victim and threw her into a bathtub.

A Uniontown man, 29, was charged with breaking and entering. Police said he was found in the basement of a vacant house on Marcy Street and had belongings from the neighbor’s house.

An Akron woman, 23, was charged with robbery after being stopped for shoplifting at JCPenney at Chapel Hill Mall. Police said when store security confronted her in the parking lot, she punched, scratched and bit the worker.

An Akron man, 39, was charged with domestic violence, felonious assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse marijuana. Police said he cut his girlfriend on the left hand and left breast with a sword.

An Akron man, 26, was charged with felony theft. He allegedly signed for a neighbor’s package when she was not home and never gave the package to the owner. The package contained a wedding band.

An Akron man, 24, was charged with felonious assault and child endangering for allegedly submerging the hands of a 2-year-old into scalding water and causing burns. Police said there were also burns on the inside of the victim’s thighs.

Bath Township

Arrest

A man, 26, was charged Jan. 4 with obstructing official business. He is accused of giving police false information during a traffic stop on Medina Road at Springside Drive. He was also arrested on warrants from Stow.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrest

A 12th Street woman, 18, was charged Jan. 2 with possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman was transported to a local hospital for a suspected heroin overdose. Police reported finding syringes and other items in her room.

Burglaries

An apartment in the 400 block of Hardman Drive was broken into Jan. 3. DVDs were taken.

A television was stolen during the burglary of a home in the 1300 block of Munroe Falls Avenue on Jan. 2.

A home in the 1900 block of Victoria Street was burglarized Dec. 31. Guitars and other items, valued at $1,800, were taken.

Tools valued at $1,800 were taken during the burglary of a home in the 200 block of Morrison Avenue Jan. 5.

Breaking and entering

A vacant home in the 1700 block of 24th Street was broken into between Dec. 18, and Jan. 2. Police found evidence someone was living in the house.

Criminal damaging

Someone “keyed” a Cuyahoga Falls police cruiser while it was parked in a driveway in the 500 block of Graham road. The damage is estimated at $300.

Drugs

An employee is suspected of stealing medication from National Church Residences, 300 East Bath Road, between Sept. 15 and Nov. 11, according to a Dec. 31 report.

An Akron woman reported Jan. 2 that someone retrieved her prescription at Giant Eagle Pharmacy, 230 Howe Avenue, without her permission.

Forgeries

Managers from Toys R Us, 590 Howe Avenue, and Pat Catan’s, 570 Howe Avenue, reported they received counterfeit $100 bills for purchases on Jan. 3.

Someone used a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for a purchase from Pizza Hut, 2893 State Road, on Jan. 4.

Thefts

A man reported Jan. 2 that cash, gift cards, a bank card and other items were taken from his wallet in the locker room of LA Fitness, 1969 Portage Trail.

An 81-year-old woman reported Dec. 31 that someone stole her purse from a shopping cart at Marc’s, 2900 State Road, Dec. 31.

A man reported Jan. 6 that someone used his information and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program card to make nearly $500 in purchases.

Fairlawn

Thefts

A 17-year-old boy was observed via surveillance camera concealing a Polo T-shirt inside his sweatpants at Dillard’s, police said. He reportedly gave a false middle name before giving his real full name.

On Jan. 5, two 16-year-old males were observed via surveillance camera in Dillard’s taking two Ralph Lauren black zip-up hoodies without paying, police said.

On Jan. 5, a Bunker Drive woman reported $2,000 in cash missing from her apartment.

A woman, 23, reported her 14-carat gold ring valued at $400 was stolen. She took it off her finger to wash her hands and exited the bathroom at Chuck E. Cheese, 2779 W. Market St. When she went back it was gone.

Two Youngstown females were observed by surveillance camera in Dillard’s concealing two Polo shirts in their purses and exiting the store without paying, police said. Security stopped them in the mall and brought them back to the store.

Security was notified of a possible shoplifter at Dillard’s. Police said the suspect was observed concealing one pair of Polo pants under his sweatshirt. The male, 13, was stopped by security as he was approaching exit doors and escorted to the security office.

A Uniontown woman, 34, reported she just finished purchasing merchandise from Victoria’s Secret, 3265 W. Market, when she realized her bag was missing from the checkout counter. The suspects in question were hanging around the checkout area while she paid for her merchandise. Total value of the merchandise was $75.94.

Burglary

A Kenridge Road woman reported her apartment was burglarized. She told police several items were missing including a white gold single diamond ring valued at $2,000.

Bullet

Summit Mall security contacted Fairlawn Police in regard to a found shotgun shell in the P.F. Chang’s parking lot. An unidentified caller contacted mall security to notify them of an unspent shotgun shell in the parking lot.

Arrests

A Peninsula man, 19, was charged Jan. 7 with two counts of complicity to commit theft, underage drinking and theft.

A Deerfield man, 26, was charged with theft and misuse of a credit card and a Boardman woman, 22, was charged with complicity Dec. 29.

An Akron man, 27, was charged Dec. 29 with falsification.

Kent

Arrests

A West Summit Street man, 31, was charged Jan. 2 with breaking and entering.

A South Lincoln Street man, 27, was charged Jan. 5 with aggravated menacing and domestic violence.

On Jan. 3, police charged a 50-year-old man with domestic violence.

Norton

Misuse of a credit card

A Taylor Road woman reported Jan. 3 that someone used her credit card to make three unauthorized purchases, totaling more than $1,200, between Dec. 29 and Jan. 3.

Theft

A woman reported Jan. 3 that she suspects a relative of stealing money from her 84-year-old mother. She discovered unauthorized withdrawals of about $200 from her mother’s checking account.

Arrests

An Americana Drive man, 21, was charged Jan. 6 with failure to comply with a peace officer.

A Cuyahoga Falls woman, 20, was charged Jan. 2 with trafficking in drugs.

Tallmadge

Arrests

An Akron woman, 35, was charged Jan. 3 with theft, criminal trespassing and falsification. She is accused of shoplifting around $60 in merchandise from Kmart, 444 South Avenue, then posing as her sister during her arrest.

An Akron woman was arrested in the 700 block of Southeast Avenue on a warrant from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for domestic violence.

Misuse of a credit card

A Victoria Parkway Drive resident reported Jan. 6 that someone used her credit card account to make unauthorized purchases in Kentucky.

Theft

A Timbertop Drive woman reported Jan. 2 that someone took $700 from her bank account without permission.

Coventry Township

Arrests

A Medina man, 44, of Ryan Road, was jailed Dec. 29 on a warrant for passing bad checks when found at Lakeside Motel on Manchester Road.

A Cope Avenue man, 29, was jailed Dec. 28 on a warrant for passing bad checks after being taken into custody at the intersection of Cope and Daisy avenues.

Burglary

A rifle, shotgun accessories, a handgun and other items, total value $9,180, were reported stolen Dec. 30 from a Wood Duck Lane apartment.

Theft

Golf clubs, jars of coins, 43 DVD movies and other items were reported stolen Dec. 24 from a Killian Road home.

Springfield Township

Arrest

An East Waterloo Road man, 34, got into an argument that turned physical with another male and was charged with domestic violence, police said.

Theft

An Oakhill Road resident called police Jan. 4 to report that he stepped inside while putting license plates on his vehicle and found his front plate was missing when he returned.

Citizen assist

Police were called New Year’s Day to the 3400 block of Center Road for a report of a highly intoxicated man unable to walk. The man had fallen flat on his face and had to be taken to the hospital. He was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Medina

Animal complaint

Police were called to a Bar Harbor Boulevard residence Jan. 6 to investigate a stray dog in a garage. The dog belonged to the resident.

Medina Township

Loud noises

A Lake Forest Trail resident called police Dec. 31 to complain that a neighbor shoots off fireworks to scare off geese. The neighbor actually fires 22-caliber blanks. He agreed to call the neighbor who has fear of the shots next time “so he can prepare himself for the sound.”

Montville Township

Fire

Officers were called to a Lexington Ridge Drive residence Jan. 1 to help extinguish an outdoor tree fire.

Wadsworth

Arrest

A East Bergey Street woman, 42, was charged Jan. 4 with violating a protection order.

Theft

A man reported Jan. 5 that someone made an unauthorized transaction using his checking account.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Freedom Avenue Northwest man, 45, was jailed New Year’s Eve on felony charges of aggravated burglary and domestic violence after being accused of attacking his mother during an argument at his house and assaulting a stepdaughter when arrested at the mother’s nearby home, police said.

Police jailed a Canton man, 25, of Carnwise Street Southwest, on Dec. 29 and filed charges of four counts of theft, two counts of resisting arrest, and counts of felony obstructing official business, aggravated trespass and theft after he allegedly attempted to take items from Macy’s in Belden Village Mall without paying. He fled from a loss prevention associate before being caught by police within a block of the mall.

A Hills and Dales Road Northwest man, 42, was jailed for domestic violence Dec. 30 after being accused of punching his wife in the mouth and shoving her during an argument.

A Blackfriars Drive Northwest resident, 61, was jailed for domestic violence Dec. 29, a day after he was accused of threatening another person.

Police jailed a Wadsworth man, 32, of Rosalind Avenue, when arrested on a felony theft warrant Dec. 27.

Attempted robbery

A man trying to sell two cellphones on Craigslist told police he was sprayed with pepper spray by a suspect who tried to steal the phones at Park Centre Lanes on Whipple Avenue Northwest and fled without the phones, total value $1,500.

Breaking and entering

Ten feet of copper pipe valued at $644 and belonging to Kauffman Plumbing and Heating of Canton was reported stolen Dec. 29 from a new building under construction at the Kent State University at Stark campus.

Fraud

A Mapleridge Circle Northwest resident said someone used her personal information to make charges of $21,497.

A Wales Avenue Northwest man told police Christmas Day that two men followed him home, offered to do construction work for him and he paid them $7,800 cash. They sprayed an unknown material on the roof for about 20 minutes, left and didn’t return.

Thefts

A Lasater Drive Northwest man said Dec. 28 that three tires and wheels, total value $600, were taken off his van, which was left on cinder blocks.

Police were called to Christie’s Cabaret on Everhard Road Northwest on Dec. 27 when a vice president said $22,000 had been taken throughout 2014 by a supervisory person.

Tool boxes and tools, total value $1,500, were reported stolen Dec. 26 from a Thackary Street Northwest man’s carport.

North Canton

Arrests

A Plain Township woman, 27, of Guilford Avenue Northwest, was jailed for felony theft Dec. 26 after she allegedly voided transactions and pocketed the cash while employed at Gabriel Brothers on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

A Mississippi Street Northeast woman, 21, was jailed on a domestic violence warrant Christmas Day when arrested on U.S. Route 30.

On Christmas Eve, a School Avenue Northeast man, 42, was jailed on warrants for felony menacing by stalking and telecommunications harassment.

Theft

Two electrical controller boxes, total value $700, were reported stolen from the front yard of an Elberta Avenue Southwest residence Dec. 28.

Arrests

On New Year’s night, a Zircon Street Northeast man, 26, was jailed for felony domestic violence for allegedly striking his live-in girlfriend in the face.

An Orchardale Drive Northwest woman, 43, was jailed early New Year’s Day when accused of coming home and punching her daughter.

An Easton Street Northeast man, 26, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 29 after he allegedly grabbed a woman’s finger, causing injury and tried to pull a window out of her vehicle.

A sheriff’s deputy charged a 22nd Street Northeast woman, 26, with robbery and two counts of theft after she pushed a loss prevention associate in an attempt to flee the Kmart store on Harmont Avenue Northeast after being accused of stealing items from the store, police said. She was caught in the 2700 block of Merit Street Northeast.

Charges of felony vandalism, domestic violence, resisting arrest and public indecency were filed against a Spangler Street Northeast woman after she allegedly punched her husband and then exposed herself to authorities as she resisted arrest.

Misuse of credit cards

A Lake Center Street Northwest resident told police Dec. 27 that someone used his personal information to open a Kohl’s credit card account and had charges totaling $970.

Arrests

A Wayne County Franklin Township woman, 38, was arrested Jan. 4 on a charge of felony domestic violence after a 43-year-old woman reported an assault by her at their residence in the 2700 block of Graber Road.

A Chippewa Township woman, 23, was arrested Dec. 27 on a charge of theft after a resident reported that $533 and credit cards were taken from a home in the 11900 block of Clinton Road.

Breaking and entering

Two checks and $200 were reported taken Dec. 31 from Salt Creek Produce, 9999 Salt Creek Road, Salt Creek Township.

Burglaries

Copper wiring worth $2,728 was reported stolen Dec. 20 from a residence in the 1900 block of W. Smithville-Western Road, Wayne Township.

A Chippewa Township man, 32, reported Dec. 25 that three men with guns pried open a sliding glass door at his home in the 12100 block of Black Diamond Road, and took four Cane Corso puppies valued at $6,000.

A television, a laptop computer and a GPS worth $1,050 were reported taken Jan. 4 from a residence in the 3500 block of West Smithville Western Road in Chester Township.

Fire

A barn with a tractor, skid loader and a golf cart, total value $10,000, was destroyed by a fire Dec. 28 in the 13300 block of Arnold Road in Sugar Creek Township. The cause of the fire was unknown.

Identity Fraud

A Wooster Township woman, 68, reported Nov. 4 that someone tried to use her credit card to get a loan that she never authorized.

Thefts

Some 150 alternators worth $6,000 were reported stolen Jan. 1 from Al’s Automotive, 7281 N. Mount Eaton Road, Baughman Township.

A generator valued at $1,200 was reported taken Jan. 3 from the front porch of a residence in the 8900 block of South Kansas Road, Paint Township.

A 9mm handgun worth $100 was reported taken Dec. 24 from a residence in the 10500 block of McQuaid Road, East Union Township.

A trailer worth $1,900 was reported stolen Dec. 24 from a residence in the 14700 block of Oak Grove Drive, Chippewa Township.

A 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck worth $4,000 was reported taken Dec. 23 from a residence in the 7700 block of Akron Road, Green Township.

A pressure washer, clothing and other items, total value $2,525, were reported stolen Dec. 26 from a storage unit in the 18400 block of Grill Road, Chippewa Township.

Fifty-eight Xanax pills were reported taken Dec. 27 from a purse at a residence in the 1300 block of Heyl Road, in Wooster Township.

Wooster

Arrests

A Wooster man of the 900 block of Mindy Lane was arrested Dec. 23 on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter after a 39-year-old woman was killed in a traffic accident at Oak Hill Road and Wayne Avenue, police said.

An Akron man was arrested Dec. 29 on charges of possessing heroin, possessing criminal tools and drug paraphernalia at Super 8, 969 Timken Road. A Wooster woman, 33, and a Big Prairie woman, 24, each were charged with drug paraphernalia in the same incident.

Assault

A 42-year-old Wooster man reported Dec. 30 that a man tried to rob and cut him with a knife at his Super 8 residence, 969 Timken Road.

Breaking and entering

Tools valued at $8,000 were reported stolen Dec. 2 from a storage unit in the 2700 block of Akron Road.

Copper pipe worth $100 was reported stolen Jan. 2 from a vacant house in the 800 block of Spink Street.

Shoes and other items worth $50 were reported stolen Dec. 22 from two cars in the 1000 block of Quinby Avenue.

Domestic violence

An East Bowman Street woman, 55, reported Jan. 4 that she was injured at a residence in the 200 block of Minerva Street.

Identity thefts

An 88-year-old Wooster woman reported Jan. 4 that someone tried to open a credit card account in her name.

An 80-year-old Wooster man reported Dec. 27 that someone used his credit card without his authorization.

Thefts

A revolver was reported stolen Dec. 19 from a residence in the 300 block of East Bowman Street.

Routers worth $2,633 were reported taken Dec. 19 from Walmart, 3883 Burbank Road.

A Mindy Lane woman, 25, reported Dec. 27 that her $200 wallet was stolen from her residence.

Hydrocodone and morphine tablets were reported stolen Dec. 26 from a home in the 400 block of Woodland Avenue.

A .22-caliber revolver, a television and a Taser, total value $180, were reported stolen Jan. 5 from three cars in the 800 block of Nold Avenue.

A North Buckeye Street woman, 66, reported Jan. 7 that someone took 82 pills from her home.
