Akron

Arrests

A Sheridan Avenue man, 49, was charged with breaking and entering after police said they traced his footprints in the snow to a nearby garage from which a weed trimmer had been taken.

An Akron man, 37, was charged with felony domestic violence after police said he punched his girlfriend in the face several times, causing a large gash.

A Fernwood Avenue man, 23, was charged with aggravated robbery after police said he brandished a pellet gun at a business and demanded money.

A Chittenden Street man, 25, was charged with receiving stolen property after police said he was found in possession of a firearm that had been stolen during a 2013 burglary.

A Nadia Court man, 22, was charged with domestic violence after police said he kicked in the front door of a woman’s residence, struck her in the face and pushed her to the floor.

A Laffer Avenue man, 21, was charged with theft and forgery after police said he took a check out of the mail, forged it and cashed it.

A Coventry man, 39, of Lemar Avenue, was charged with receiving stolen property after police said he was found driving a stolen car.

An Eastland Avenue man, 29, was charged with burglary after police said he stole a handgun after entering a neighbor’s house by forcing open a basement window.

A Peerless Avenue man, 45, was charged with domestic violence after police said he repeatedly punched his wife and cut her leg with a kitchen knife.

A Coach Lane man, 28, was charged with burglary after police said he entered his mother’s house and stole items.

A Kenmore Boulevard man, 47, was charged with breaking and entering and safecracking after police said he entered his father’s business and took the safe, power tools and other items.

A Hawkins Avenue man, 24, was charged with burglary and tampering with evidence after police said he was linked to a theft from his neighbor’s house.

A Yale Street man, 47, was charged with domestic violence after police said he choked his girlfriend and cut her lip.

A Work Avenue man, 38, was charged with having a weapon under disability, receiving stolen property and domestic violence after police said he pointed a gun at a woman during an argument. Police said the gun was found on the floor unloaded, but that it had been reported as stolen.

A West Miller Avenue man, 30, was charged with domestic violence after police said a woman told officers that he hit her in the eye.

A Mallison Avenue man, 23, was charged with auto theft and several traffic violations after police said he stole his mother’s car and got into an accident in it before fleeing the scene.

A Hartford Avenue man, 40, was charged with domestic violence and menacing after police said a verbal argument with his girlfriend escalated and he pushed her down and threatened to snap her neck and break her jaw. As she attempted to get in her vehicle and he tried to take her keys, she pepper-sprayed him.

A Barberton man, 52 of Cherry Street, was charged with breaking and entering after police said he broke into a garage and stole a snow blower.

A South Munroe Road, Tallmadge man was charged with felonious assault after police said he struck another man with a vehicle and assaulted the victim while he was lying on the ground.

Identity theft

A North Shore Drive woman reported Jan. 10 that someone used her personal information to open a charge account with a local store and charged more than $1,000.

Suspicious activity

A woman reported Jan. 8 that while in a waiting room in an office at 3975 Embassy Parkway a man asked to borrow her phone. When he gave it back, she found songs that she had not purchased downloaded to the phone.

Theft

Several appliances were taken from a vacant home in the 3700 block of Roberts Ridge between Dec. 27 and Jan. 9.

Coventry Township

Arrest

Summit County sheriff’s deputies arrested a West Olden Avenue man, 66, on a warrant for passing bad checks Dec. 31.

Burglary

A State Mill Road resident told authorities Jan. 3 that someone entered her home and a large array of items, including a flat-screen TV, canopy bed and a stove, were stolen. No value was included in the report.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A Woodridge Middle School boy, 13, was charged Jan. 7 with telecommunications harassment. While in school Jan. 5, he is accused of using the principal’s email address in an attempt to order sex toys online.

A 21st Street woman, 31, was charged Jan. 10 with obstructing official business. She is accused of hindering a police investigation by giving officers misinformation.

A Cuyahoga Falls High School freshman, 15, was charged Jan. 7 with disorderly conduct. He is accused of threatening a teacher whom he said “snitched” on him.

Burglaries

A television valued at $700 was taken during the burglary of a home in the 1900 block of Lancaster Street between Jan. 1 and Jan. 11.

A television valued at $1,500 was stolen during the burglary of a home in the 1300 block of Biley Road on Jan. 13.

A neighbor reported seeing several men and women break into an apartment in the 400 block of Hardman Drive and remove several bags Jan. 7.

Identity theft

An Oakpark Boulevard woman reported Jan. 13 that someone used her identification and debit card to make $600 in unauthorized purchases.

Thefts

Someone took the baby Jesus figure from the nativity scene at St. Joseph’s Church, 1761 Second St., on Jan. 10 or Jan. 11.

A wallet and cellphone were taken from a locker in LA Fitness, 1969 Portage Trail. Total loss is over $1,000.

Telecommunication fraud

A man reported Jan. 12 that his mother, 75, has spent more than $19,000 on wire transfers and prepaid money cards in several lottery scams.

Arrests

On Jan. 9, a Ravenna man 34, was charged with theft after store personnel said he took items worth $369.50 from Macy’s at Summit Mall without paying. He was arrested in the parking lot.

An Akron woman, 48, was arrested on West Market Street for theft of services after police said she didn’t pay for a cab ride totaling $21.50.

Theft

On Jan. 8, a manager at Victoria’s Secret, 3265 W. Market St., told police two women were observed selecting various clothing items and concealing them in their bags and purses. The employee approached and offered them a shopping bag. They refused the bag, then exited the store. Mall security was unable to find the suspects. A nearby retail store said it has surveillance video of the suspects.

Forgery

An employee of Walgreens, 3009 W. Market St., contacted Fairlawn police in reference to a counterfeit $100 bill that was used at the store. A woman received $87.29 in change after purchasing multiple packs of gum and Orajel. The $100 bill was tagged into evidence.

A Long Road man, 23, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 6 following a physical altercation with his girlfriend.

Breaking and entering

A vacant Greenfield Road house owned by a Texas mortgage company was forcibly entered Jan. 5. Copper pipes were cut out and drop ceiling tiles were torn down, a report said.

Arrests

A Stow man, 27, was charged Jan. 11 with burglary.

Theft

A ring was stolen from a home in the 5200 block of Sullivan Drive, a Jan. 8 report said.

Norton

Burglary

A home in the 2300 block of Inas Drive was broken into overnight Jan. 10. A broken window was covered with wood the following day. On Jan. 12, someone pushed in the wood.

Springfield Township

Arrest

A Ladd Street man, 24, was charged Jan. 7 with receiving stolen property involving the theft of a $900 video game console from the home were he lived in early December.

Warrant issued

Police said a warrant for telecommunications harassment and menacing was issued for an Akron man, 20, of Berkley Street, after officers said his girlfriend told them he called her from Summit County Jail and said that if she didn’t pick him up Jan. 7, then bad things would happen to her.

Breaking and entering

Police were notified Dec. 31 that a vacant house on Junior Avenue being sold by Markley Realty of Stow was entered. Approximately 52 feet of copper pipe along with ceiling tiles and a lock box, total value $2,240, were stolen.

Burglary

An Avis Road resident told police Dec. 30 that his home had been broken into and jewelry, cash and other items, total value $25,202, were stolen.

Theft

A computer, handgun and other items, total value $1,025, were reported stolen Jan. 5 from a pickup truck parked at a Pepperhill Circle residence.

Arrests

An Akron man, 25, was charged Jan. 14 with felony possession of drugs.

Police charged a Kent woman, 23, with felony possession of drugs Jan. 9.

Tallmadge

Theft

A woman, 39, reported Jan. 11 that while visiting a friend in the 900 block of South Munroe Road, someone took her purse containing a bank card and prescription medication.

Disturbance

Officers were called to Glenmont Drive Apartments Jan. 8 for a loud birthday party. They were called back to the apartment less than hour later for new complaints of loud music and kids outside throwing eggs.

Vehicle found

Officers learned Jan. 7 that a vehicle involved in a Dec. 28 accident in which the driver fled the scene was parked in the Parma Police Department’s impound lot. The driver had been arrested in Parma for a separate offense.

A driver was “advised not to do spinouts in empty parking lot” on North Court Street Jan. 11.

Citizen assist

A Nettleton Road resident called police to complain that someone to whom he sold a motorcycle in 2007 is harassing him because the title was never signed. He told the officer that he sold a 1978 Harley-Davidson Sportster with 3,400 miles for $2,500. He told the buyer 7 years ago he would not sign the title until the bike’s plate was returned.

Suspicious people

Officers were called to Lake Ridge Drive on Jan. 7 for kids venturing out on a frozen lake. It turns out it was high school hockey players practicing.

A Clark Road man, 36, was arrested Jan. 12 on a warrant from Cuyahoga County for felony drug possession.

A homeless man, 27, was charged Jan. 11 with felony theft.

Arrests

A Shakertown Drive Northwest man, 23, was jailed on a domestic violence warrant Jan. 7 after he turned himself in to Jackson police.

A Stanbury Circle Northwest man, 20, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 6 after police were told he threatened to kill a female family member.

Police charged an Akron man, 32, of Franklin Avenue, with domestic violence Jan. 6 after officers said he hit his girlfriend several times at BJ’s Wholesale Club on Frank Avenue Northwest.

A Canton man, 58, of Georgetown Road Northeast, was charged with robbery Jan. 3 after a loss-prevention employee at Macy’s in Belden Village Mall said he observed the man select $169 worth of merchandise and try to leave without paying. The man used physical force while trying to escape, a police report stated.

Robbery

An employee of Motel 6 on Sunset Strip Avenue Northwest told police Jan. 4 that a masked robber entered the office and stole an undetermined amount of cash about 4:15 a.m.

Burglary

A police scanner, jewelry and a computer, total value $5,500 was reported stolen Jan. 5 from a Wackerly Drive Northwest home.

Thefts

A flat-screen TV, CB radio and antenna plus a GPS unit, total value $1,000, were reported stolen Jan. 6 from a North Canton man’s semi parked at Russo Concrete on Promway Avenue Northwest.

A TV/DVD combo, PlayStation 4 and other items, total value $1,100, were reported stolen Jan. 5 from a Woodlawn Avenue Northwest residence.

Two air-conditioners, total value $7,751, were reported stolen Jan. 5 from the Pregnancy Support Center on 22nd Street Northwest.

Cash and a computer/tablet, total value $810, were stolen from the Sheetz gas station on Whipple Avenue Northwest along with the vehicle of a Canton man who told police he left the vehicle running while inside the convenience store for five to seven minutes.

A trailer, refrigerator and restaurant equipment, total value $11,700, were reported stolen Jan. 3 from Chick-fil-A on Dressler Road Northwest.

Accused of threatening to harm the mother of his child during an argument at their apartment, an Applegrove Street Northwest man, 22, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 7, a police report showed.

A Canton man, 32, of Wallace Avenue Northeast, was charged with theft after police said he took about $500 worth of alcohol from Acme Fresh Market, 1474 N. Main St.

A Root Avenue Northeast man, 55, was charged Jan. 3 with felony domestic violence.

Breaking and entering

Eleven windows and four light fixtures, total value $4,700, were reported broken Jan. 12 at Fredericksburg Builders, 2532 S. Apple Creek Road, East Union Township.

Burglary

Three televisions, jewelry and $900 were reported taken Jan. 13 after a man, 70, told deputies that his ex-wife and two masked men with guns came to his home in the 3900 block of Canal Road, Wooster Township.

Shooting

A Salt Creek Township woman reported Jan. 12 that several people pulled into her driveway at Rose Lane Used Furniture, 6570 Salt Creek Road, and shot a coyote between two barns.

Thefts

Tools and power equipment worth $9,070 were reported taken Jan. 14 from a garage in the 12500 block of Warwick Road, Chippewa Township.

A Fredericksburg woman reported Jan. 9 that someone used her debit card to buy items worth $618 at Sam’s Club without her permission.

A generator worth $3,900 was reported taken Jan. 13 from Hilltop Finishing, 7866 Grease Road, Salt Creek Township.

A Clinton Road, Chippewa Township woman reported Jan. 10 that someone used her bank card to purchase items worth $228 at Sam’s Club and Walmart without her permission.

Vandalism

The Wayne County Highway Department reported Jan. 8 that eight to 12 road signs were painted with graffiti in Milton Township near Miller and East Steiner roads.

Wooster

Arrests

A Wooster man, 43, was charged with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of meth Jan. 11 after police said they found items used for making meth at his reported residence in the 200 block of Minerva Street.

A Wooster man, 21, was charged Jan. 8 with theft after police said he sold a diamond ring, a gold cross and a citrine pendant to Martin Jewelers of Wooster that he had taken from a home in the 700 block of Greenwood Drive.

Passing bad checks

A report said that a woman fraudulently got four $450 Visa gift cards Jan. 10 at Walmart, 3883 Burbank Road.

Theft

An Imperial Street woman reported Jan. 5 that she suspects her niece used a wire transfer to take $160,000 from her in a scam.
