This puts a new spin on the term “trash picking.”
A father and son were arrested this week for stealing Christmas cards intended for trash truck drivers.
After receiving numerous reports over the past two weeks on the theft of Christmas cards left for garbage truck drivers, Twinsburg detectives set up surveillance Tuesday, which was trash pickup day.
Detectives found Daniel Weber and his son, Kyle, on Burridge Lane, casing the neighborhood. They stopped the two and were able to link them to the previous thefts, finding stolen gift cards in their vehicle, according to a news release from the Twinsburg Police Department.
Police arrested the father and son and transported them to the Solon Jail, pending arraignment in Stow Municipal Court.
Daniel Weber, 44, and Kyle, 18, both of Sagamore Hills, have been charged with theft. Additional charges are pending, according to the news release.
