Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Lake Street woman, 51, was charged with theft of a credit card and misuse of a credit card after police said she stole a credit card and purchased $94.09 worth of merchandise and gas from a gas station.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 35, of Prior Drive, was charged with theft after police said he took more than $6,000 from his employer between July 1 and Aug. 25.

A Watson Street man, 22, was charged with breaking and entering after police said he broke into a barber shop on Darrow Road on Aug. 27 and took several items.

A Stetler Avenue man, 38, was charged with aggravated burglary after police said he and his girlfriend, 40, forced their way into her ex-husband’s house and assaulted him. She faces the same charge.

A Canadian Avenue woman, 27, was charged with theft and drug possession after police said store security saw her place merchandise inside a baby stroller and attempt to leave without paying.

A Mount View Avenue man, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property after police said he stole a car and keys from a gas station on West Market Street.

A Warrington Road man, 27, was charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools after police said he forced his way into a house on East Glenwood Avenue.

A Manchester Road man, 36, was charged with aggravated arson after police said he set fire to a house on Laurel Avenue.

A Kent woman, 39, of Lake Street was charged with telecommunication fraud. Police said she was employed by a tax service and had the customer’s tax return wired into her personal bank account.

A Columbus man, 30, of Indianola Street was charged with domestic violence, disrupting public service, interference with custody and criminal damaging. Police said he and a woman are parents of an 8-month-old child and that during a recent visit to Akron he tried to take the baby despite having no custodial rights. He assaulted the mother and damaged her phone, a report said.

Coventry Township

Breaking and entering

Someone opened a window at M&D Car Sales on Manchester Road and stole tools valued at over $1,138, an Oct. 6 Summit County sheriff’s report stated.

Burglary

Two shotguns, a rifle, a handgun, jewelry, a laptop computer and cash, total value $5,810, were reported stolen from an Alfred Road home Oct. 7, along with two other guns for which values were not listed.

Four TV sets and an iPad, total value $5,000, were reported stolen Oct. 2 from a Markey Street residence.

Theft

An air-conditioning unit, an aluminum ladder and gaming board, total value $1,475, were reported stolen Oct. 2 from a Loma Drive home.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

Two Shannon Avenue boys, 16 and 17, were charged with disorderly conduct, incorrigibility and tobacco violations Oct. 11. One boy also was charged with burglary, assault and resisting arrest after police said he broke into a neighbor’s home to get away from police, then kicked and tried to bite officers. The teens were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital because of drug-induced hallucinations.

A Larchdale Avenue girl, 15, and a Macedonia man, 21, were charged Oct. 13 with burglary after they allegedly broke into a vacant home in the 2400 block of Third Street. He also was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Burglary

Someone broke into an apartment Oct. 14 in the 300 block of Jackson Avenue and stole a television valued at $800.

Someone broke into an apartment Oct. 14 in the 1700 block of 24th Street and took more than $3,000 in jewelry.

An attached garage in the 1800 block of Windsor Street was broken into Oct. 11. Equipment valued at more than $2,700 was taken.

Criminal simulation

A Warrensville Heights woman reported Oct. 9 that she received a counterfeit $10 bill as part of lottery winnings paid out by a clerk at BP, 1205 Main St.

Drugs

A pharmacist at Walgreens, 2645 State Road, reported Oct. 12 that two people tried to get fraudulent prescriptions filled within minutes of each other.

Identity theft

An Eighth Street woman reported Oct. 14 that someone used her identity to open a cellphone account in her name, leaving an $800 bill.

A Tallmadge Road man reported Oct. 14 that someone used his personal information to obtain credit in his name.

An 18th Street man reported Oct. 14 that someone used his identity to gain access to his bank account. Five transactions for more than $700 were made.

A Windsor Street woman reported Oct. 12 that someone used her personal information to make charges to her credit card for more than $500.

A Hillcrest Drive woman reported Oct. 9 that someone used her Social Security number in an attempt to defraud her.

Theft

A Broad Boulevard man reported Oct. 10 that while he was cutting grass in the 2400 block of 21st Street, someone took a Troy backpack blower, valued at $500, from his pickup truck.

Fairlawn

Thefts

An Akron woman, 29, told police Oct. 5 that her purse was stolen from the back seat of a rental car parked in a retailer’s lot on West Market Street. She had visited three stores and was unsure which one she was in when the theft occurred.

An employee of Golfsmith, 3737 W. Market St., told police Oct. 4 that a man left the store with golf clubs valued at $3,000 without paying.

An Akron man, 22, was charged with theft Oct. 3 after police said he stole a Polo sweatsuit jacket from Dillard’s at Summit Mall. He was arrested in the parking lot. The merchandise was found outside a nearby restaurant, police said.

An Akron woman, 18, was charged Oct. 1 with theft from Walmart on West Market Street after police said she concealed clothing items in her purse and exited the store. She was also charged with underage consumption after police said they found an open bottle of brandy in the car between her feet.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 22, was charged with theft Sept. 30 after police said he took three Polo shirts worth $160 from Dillard’s at Summit Mall by concealing them in his pants.

Hudson

Arrests

A Stow man was charged Oct. 11 with felony theft, criminal trespassing and possession of criminal tools. Police said he took scrap metal from a Hudson Gate Drive property.

A Silver Lake man was charged Oct. 11 with disorderly conduct. Police were called to a Hudson Gate Drive home after a man knocked on the door and said he had been kidnapped. Officers determined the man was hallucinating after taking drugs.

Theft

A resident of a Hudson assisted-living facility reported Oct. 10 that someone took his checkbook and credit card.

Mogadore

Theft

A Mogadore Road resident called police Oct. 11 to complain that her car had been moved. The woman told police that some of the gas in the tank had been used and the front bumper was damaged. Nothing was missing from inside of the vehicle, but it now won’t start, police reported.

New Franklin

Theft

Jewelry, other items and cash totaling $510 were reported stolen Oct. 6 from a Fairland Road home.

Norton

Arrests

An Akron man, 21, was arrested Oct. 8 on a felony warrant from the Summit County sheriff after a traffic stop on Norton Avenue.

Springfield Township

Robbery

A Green man, 24, of Clearview Avenue and his wife, 21, are being sought on warrants for aggravated robbery and theft following the theft of clothing, total value $230, from Kohl’s Department Store on South Arlington Road on Oct. 6. Two loss prevention associates were assaulted trying to stop the pair from getting away, and one was struck by the suspects’ car, resulting in a head injury, a police report stated.

Burglary

An Archmere Drive woman said Oct. 6 that her home was entered and three laptop computers, three TV sets, jewelry and other items, total value $6,270, were stolen.

Theft

Police began an investigation Oct. 3 into the theft of $1,736 from TK Tire on Massillon Road. The owner told police he hired a man to handle the store’s accounting and later learned the suspect deducted funds to cover taxes and workers’ compensation premiums but kept the money and didn’t make the payments.

Arrests

A Williamsburg Circle man, 25, was charged with domestic violence and disrupting public service Oct. 10 after he allegedly assaulted a woman, 23, and prevented her from calling for help.

A Kent Road boy, 16, was charged with illegal possession of a BB gun in a school safety zone and criminal trespass Oct. 10.

Theft

A manager at Lowe’s, 3570 Hudson Drive, reported Oct. 13 that a woman tried to return for cash a lock set she took from a store shelf.

Tallmadge

Arrests

An Akron man, 32, was arrested Oct. 12 on a Northfield warrant after a traffic stop on Northeast Avenue.

Cuyahoga County

North Royalton

Arrest

Police were able to track down and arrest a juvenile Oct. 12 after he was observed stealing a charity jar from the counter at McDonald’s.

Medina County

Brunswick

Animal complaint

Officers were called to El Camino Boulevard on Oct. 12 to investigate a report of a barking dog. The man who answered the door was wanted on a warrant and ran when he saw the officers, who couldn’t catch him. They removed the dog from the home.

Medina

Suspicious bag

Police were called to North Court Street on Oct. 14 to investigate a suspicious package. The bag was full of dirty laundry.

Medina Township

Assist

Officers were called to a Medina Road church Oct. 13 after concerns were raised by officials over what precautions to take when firing an employee who owns guns.

Montville Township

Disturbance

Officers were called to a Medina Road restaurant Oct. 15 after a 60-year-old customer became irate over slow service. Managers and customers had to remove him from the eatery.

Wadsworth

Arrests

Employees of four Wadsworth businesses were charged Oct. 11 with selling alcohol to an underage person.

Portage County

Kent

Arrests

A Cherry Street woman, 32, was charged Oct. 11 with falsification during a traffic stop. Police also discovered she was wanted on a Portage County warrant.

A Silver Meadows Boulevard woman, 27, was charged Oct. 10 with menacing.

Police arrested an East College Street man, 23, on Oct. 8 on charges of forgery, receiving stolen property and theft.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

An Akron woman, 58, of Snyder Street, was arrested Oct. 7 on a Jackson warrant charging her with passing bad checks.

A Libbie Street Northwest man, 21, was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly threw a boot at his brother Oct. 6 at home.

A Canton man, 26, of Georgetown Road Northeast, was charged with theft and obstructing official business Oct. 6. Police said he stole $614 in merchandise from the Kohl’s store on Dressler Road Northwest. He resisted arrest and ran, but was captured at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the same plaza, a report said.

A Johnson City, Tenn., woman, 20, surrendered to Jackson police Oct. 5 on a felony warrant linked to the thefts of an iPad, antique watch and other items, total value $900, from a Jackson home where she had been staying.

Fraud

A Stephen Circle Northwest resident told police Oct. 2 that he was scammed out of $1,980 by a caller who said the Internal Revenue Service had a warrant for the man’s arrest for unpaid back taxes.

Breaking and entering

An inspector checking on a vacant duplex on Huckleberry Street Northwest on Oct. 2 said he found a door unlocked. Copper pipes, total value $900, had been cut and removed.

Burglary

Designer shoes, clothing and a cellphone, total value $800, were reported stolen Oct. 4 from a Trap­hagen Street Northwest apartment. The occupant had found a sliding glass door ajar.

Theft

Police were told by an employee of Home Depot on Portage Street Northwest that two people in a pickup truck stole a $2,800 log splitter from the rental area in the parking lot Oct. 8.

North Canton

Arrest

A Lake Township woman, 45, of Midway Street Northwest was charged with felony endangering children Oct. 3 after police said she left her 2-year-old daughter in her minivan in the parking lot of Northwood Elementary while she went inside to get another child. Police said the children were released to their grandparents.

Plain Township

Arrests

A 17th Street Northwest man, 23, was charged with domestic violence Oct. 8 after police said he grabbed his girlfriend, threw her onto a bed and pinned her there.

On Oct. 5, a Cathy Drive Northeast woman, 25, and her girlfriend, 28, were charged with domestic violence and falsification following an altercation at their residence, a Stark sheriff’s report stated.

Uniontown

Arrest

An altercation with a parent at their Lake Center Street home Oct. 4 led to the arrest of a boy, 15. He was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center.

Theft

Three bracelets, total value $1,000, were reported stolen Oct. 2 from the Jewelry Repair Shop inside the Hartville MarketPlace.

Wayne County

Wayne sheriff

Arrests

A Wooster man, 21, was arrested Oct. 13 on charges of unlawful sexual conduct and possession of controlled substances after deputies said they found him in a Wooster Township motel in the 2100 block of East Lincoln Way with a 15-year-old Wooster girl. Deputies reported finding marijuana in the motel room.

A Detroit man, 31, was charged with felony domestic violence and vandalism Oct. 8 after a teenager reported a domestic dispute in the 1800 block of East Lincoln Way, Wooster Township. The man damaged police cruisers during his arrest, a report said.

Breaking and entering

Two chain saws valued at $800 were reported taken Oct. 11 from a building in the 200 block of North Carr Road, East Union Township.

A battery charger and two pairs of gloves, total value $275, were reported stolen Oct. 7 from Sterling Farm Equipment, 6131 Ashland Road, Chester Township.

Furniture valued at $875 was reported stolen Oct. 12 from a storage unit on North Geyers Chapel Road, Wooster Township.

Burglaries

Two heaters, a generator and spikes, total value $1,565, were reported stolen Oct. 13 from a house under construction in the 7200 block of Nonpariel Road, Franklin Township.

A teen boy reported that he scared away someone Oct. 6 who was trying to take a television from a home in the 2100 block of Harrison Road, Franklin Township.

A window was broken but nothing was reported taken Oct. 14 at Amerigas, 3580 E. Lincoln Way, Wooster Township.

Thefts

A four-wheeler worth $3,500 was reported stolen Oct. 13 from a yard in the 8100 block of North Crown Hill Road, Green Township.

A 2008 Ford pickup truck valued at $20,000 was reported taken Oct. 14 from Great Trail Property, 2054 Great Trail Drive, Wooster Township.

Twenty-seven batteries worth $2,700 were reported taken Oct. 11 from a yard at Mirk Inc., 7629 Chippewa Road, Green Township.

A 2011 Toyota valued at $22,000 was reported stolen Oct. 12 from a driveway in the 1500 block of Sherck Boulevard, Franklin Township.

Seventeen milker canisters, 15 bucket holders and antiques, total value $4,750, were reported taken Oct. 8 from a shed in the 200 block of West Moreland Road, Franklin Township.

Wooster

Arrests

A Wooster man, 42, was charged Oct. 14 with felony domestic violence after his girlfriend reported that he injured her face at their residence in the 300 block of Grant Street.

A Wooster woman, 40, was charged Oct. 10 with violating a protection order when a neighbor, 85, told police that she contacted him at his home in the 700 block of Gasche Street.

Breaking and entering

A Wooster man reported Oct. 12 that someone broke into a storage building in the 2700 block of Prairie Lane Road. Nothing was taken.

An employee of New Destinations Thrift Store, 5382 Cleveland Road, reported Oct. 13 that $153 was stolen from the business.

A mower worth $300 was reported stolen Oct. 1 from a garage in the 300 block of South Grant Street.

The owner of Convenient Food Mart, 337 W. Liberty St., reported Oct. 8 that $407 was stolen from the store.

Burglaries

A PlayStation 4 valued at $449 was reported taken Oct. 9 from a residence in the 1900 block of Brookside Drive.

A television worth $1,500 was reported taken Oct. 8 from a home in the 5200 block of Emalene Drive.

Forgery

Three checks worth $20,703 from United Way of Wooster, 215 S. Walnut St., were reported forged Oct. 10 and presented to local banks.

Thefts

An emerald and diamond ring and a law enforcement knife, total value $3,100, were reported stolen Oct. 12 from a car at the Justice Center, 201 W. Liberty St.

A ring and a bracelet worth $10,500 were reported stolen Oct. 9 from a home in the 100 block of Cannon Drive.
