Police say a car chase from Akron to Tallmadge ended Saturday before noon, when the driver, who matched the description of a robbery suspect, fled on foot and was apprehended by a K-9 unit.
An arrest report has not been filed yet, but an Akron detective said Terry Gregory, 51, of Ravenna, was pulled over in Akron on suspicion that his vehicle matched the description of another vehicle used in a recent robbery at the Quality Inn on Gilchrist Road in Akron.
The patrol officer asked Gregory to follow him to the police station.
Some time after, Gregory fled, initiating a police chase that began about two blocks north of the downtown police station and ended at an undisclosed location in Tallmadge.
Police said Gregory was apprehended by the K-9 unit after his vehicle crashed. No further details were available.
