Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Lake Street woman, 40, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop at South Main Street and West Miller Avenue. Also arrested was a Ravenna man, 43, of Richardson Avenue, who was charged with possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence. Police said he had a rock of crack cocaine and tried to destroy it by crushing it with his driver’s license.

An Excelsior Street man, 45, was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend outside an East Archwood Avenue bar.

A Wooster man, 22, of Bowman Street, was charged with misrepresenting identity, escape, resisting arrest and obstructing police business following a traffic stop. A passenger, 32, of Woodcrest Drive, Wooster, was charged with drug possession, tampering with evidence and possession of an open container.

A Smith Farm Road man, 40, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle.

An East Firestone Boulevard man, 33, was charged with drug abuse and possession of criminal tools. Police said he was driving on a suspended license and had three Percocet pills in his underwear and a digital scale in his front pant pockets when arrested.

A Cuyahoga Falls woman, 23, of Munroe Falls Avenue, was charged with possession of methamphetamines. Police reported seeing her leave a suspected drug house on Beardsley Street with a small plastic bag of meth sticking out of her bra.

A Lakewood Boulevard woman, 51, was charged with felony theft after she allegedly had a dog that was reported stolen from Lakewood Boulevard.

Barberton

Arrest

An East Robinson Avenue boy was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly threatened to kill his grandmother during a quarrel Aug. 3.

Robbery

A College Street man, 35, said he was struck in the head with a handgun and robbed of $50 during an attack by two men Aug. 5.

Theft

Two Washington Avenue women told police Aug. 5 that furniture, an entertainment center and other items, total value $10,425, were missing from storage at the home of relatives.

Two transmissions, a full motor and a partially built motor, total value $1,000, were reported stolen Aug. 2 from Mike’s Muffler parking lot on Wooster Road West.

Coventry Township

Breaking and entering

A safe, two cash registers, cash and other items, total value $3,570, were reported stolen Aug. 5 from Tito’s Mexican Grille on Manchester Road.

Theft

A homemade trailer valued at $1,200 was reported stolen Aug. 4 from a Cormany Road yard.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A Lincoln Avenue man, 54, was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication Aug. 10 after he allegedly urinated in a trash can in the lobby of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.

An Akron woman, 30, was charged with fleeing police, speeding, and driving under suspension Aug. 2 following a traffic stop on state Route 8 at Howe Avenue. Police said she fled, left the freeway, drove through several red lights and swerved around other traffic before finally stopping in an East Market Street parking lot.

An Akron man, 29, was charged with possession of marijuana and another man, 37, was charged with having an open container of alcohol Aug. 11 following a traffic stop on state Route 8 at Front Street. An officer said the driver had marijuana and the passenger had a plastic water battle containing gin and tonic.

Assault

A Meir Place man, 25, reported Aug. 11 he was assaulted by a man he knows. He declined to prosecute.

Burglary

Someone stole cash, a spare key and credit cards Aug. 13 from a home in the 1500 block of Bailey Road.

Someone stole jewelry and cash, total value $2,500, from a home in the 1700 block of 14th Street on Aug. 11.

Criminal damaging

Windows were broken on two limousines and someone tried to pry open a shed Aug. 12 at the Islamic Center, 152 E. Steels Corners Road.

Forgery

A Valley Savings Bank official told police Aug. 9 that a woman made a cash ATM deposit, filling out the envelope with the amount $2,000. There was only $2 in the envelope. The woman then debited more than $2,000 at local retailers.

Misuse of a credit card

A man, 44, was suspected of stealing a debit card and using it for two transactions totaling $405.

Theft

Exhaust systems from four trucks, total value $15,000, were stolen Aug. 12 on the lot at Falls Dodge, 4100 State Road.

A blue Nissan Sentra stolen Aug. 7 from the 4900 block of State Road was recovered in Akron.

Items valued at $2,500 were taken from a shed, garage and home Aug. 12 in the 400 block of Kathron Avenue.

Arrest

A Canton man, 36, of Eighth Street Northeast, was arrested at his home on a Summit County sheriff’s warrant charging felony menacing and stalking.

Burglary

A Massillon Road woman told authorities Aug. 7 that someone entered her home and stole $3,000.

New Franklin

Arrest

A Coventry Township man, 31, of Flynn Avenue, was jailed Aug. 2 on charges of forgery and theft, both felonies, after turning himself in to New Franklin police. Officers said he admitted forging four checks in his mother’s name for a total of $2,401.

Springfield Township

Arrest

A Pressler Road man, 62, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 8 after he allegedly threatened to harm his ex-wife.

Theft

Three cellphones, total value $1,050, were stolen Aug. 6 from the Walmart on South Arlington Road.

Stow

Arrests

A Cuyahoga Falls woman, 27, was charged with forgery Aug. 12.

Arson

A Lyndhurst Avenue woman told police Aug. 7 that someone smashed holes in two television screens at her home, then set fire to the televisions, three doors, two cable television boxes and a printer in the backyard.

Criminal simulation

Two counterfeit $50 bills were used to buy merchandise Aug. 11 at Giant Eagle, 4300 Kent Road.

Identity theft

A Hile Road woman reported Aug. 9 that someone used her personal information to apply for credit cards in Florida.

Negligence

The case manager of a group home resident filed a complaint of patient neglect Aug. 10.

Phone harassment

A woman told police Aug. 10 that she answered the phone while visiting a 73-year-old relative in Stow. The caller told her to go to Walmart to buy “some type of card.” When she refused, the caller said he would kill the woman’s family. The older relative said he has received 100 calls from the man in the past five months.

Theft

A narcotic pain patch was stolen Aug. 3-11 from Emeritus at Stow, 4411 Fishcreek Road.

An Akron woman, 35, told police that her wallet was stolen from her purse Aug. 7 as she played bingo at VFW Post 4738, 3726 Fishcreek Road. Credit cards and $80 were taken.

Tools and a car battery were stolen Aug. 8 from an open garage in the 2200 block of Merria Road.

Tallmadge

Arrests

An Akron man, 35, was arrested Aug. 12 on warrants alleging conspiracy to commit kidnapping and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

A North Thomas Road man, 38, was charged with felony domestic violence and obstructing official business Aug. 14 after he allegedly slapped and punched his girlfriend. A child in the home called 911 when she awoke and heard “loud smacks.”

Burglary

A screen door was damaged in an attempted break-in Aug. 11 at a home in the 100 block of South Munroe Road.

Sexual assault

Police were investigating an Aug. 9 report of a sexual assault of a child.

Scrap theft

Officers found “some suspicious characters hanging out” in an industrial park Aug. 14. They are suspected of stealing scrap.

Medina County

Brunswick

Noise complaint

Officers responded to an Aug. 11 complaint of loud music coming from a Pearl Road business. The business owner was charged with noise disturbance.

Disturbing the peace

A Warren Drive resident called 911 several times Aug. 11 to complain of hip pain. The man became “belligerent and uncooperative with dispatchers,” and when officers arrived at the home, they found him to be “highly intoxicated from a mixture of Vicodin and alcohol.” He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Fake bill

A clerk at the Speedway station on Center Road called police Aug. 13 to report a counterfeit $10 bill. The customer said he received the bill at a concession stand at the Cuyahoga County Fair.

Citizen assist

Police were called to Glenbrook Drive on Aug. 12 for a report of man who kept falling. He had several scratches and road-rash burns from falling. Officers said he did not have an odor of an alcohol. He told them he kept falling because of “severe knee and back pain.” He refused help from paramedics and would not further discuss his ailment. Officers were called back when he fell again. After refusing medical assistance a second time, he was charged with disorderly conduct.

Vandalism

Officers discovered the words “Diesel” and “Krome” spray-painted on bathroom buildings at Hopkins Park. The markings resemble those found at Lou Ray Associates and Laurel Square earlier in the week.

Medina

Criminal damage

Officers responded to a call Aug. 11 that a street light had been vandalized on Brandywine Drive.

Barking dogs

Officers were called to Strawberry Lane on Aug. 10 for a report that three dogs had been barking for hours. No one was home. A homeowner later called police to say that she thought her husband had brought the dogs inside. The husband thought the wife brought the dogs in.

Suspicious person

Police were called to East Homestead Street for a report of people “taking pictures of kids” Aug. 13 at a park. A check of the camera found no images.

Medina Township

Fireworks

A trash can was on fire Aug. 14 on Yellowstone Drive. Officers found the remnants of fireworks. A homeowner believed teenagers were responsible.

Theft

Someone stole a radiator from a 1966 motor home parked Aug. 13 on Pearl Road.

Montville Township

Theft

An Ashland couple was charged with theft Aug. 13 from the Ace Hardware on Medina Road.

Stark County

Canal Fulton

Arrest

A Wayne County woman, 51, of Oak Grove Drive, and a Cathedral Circle couple, ages 55 and 65, were arrested Aug. 6 on warrants charging child endangerment, illegal manufacturing of drugs and assembly and possession of chemicals for manufacturing drugs.

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Plain Township woman, 28, of Newgate Avenue Northwest, was charged with child endangering and tampering with drugs Aug. 8. Police said she left a child unattended in a vehicle with a window cracked open in hot weather at the Clothes Mentor parking lot on Dressler Road Northwest. The child was taken to a hospital. Police reported finding drugs in the woman’s purse.

A Mansfield man, 30, was arrested Aug. 5 on Jackson warrants charging forgery and receiving stolen property.

Breaking and entering

A floor safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and other items was reported stolen Aug. 3 from a secretary’s office at Windy Hills Hardwoods on Erie Avenue Northwest.

Burglary

Jewelry, a computer and Blu-ray equipment, total value $2,341, were reported stolen Aug. 3 from a South Boulevard Northwest home.

Someone ransacked several rooms of a Jacque Drive Northwest home Aug. 2 and stole $2,300.

Thefts

Jewelry valued at $25,601 was reported stolen Aug. 4 from a Malory Circle Northwest home.

Several pairs of stolen sunglasses were exchanged Aug. 2 at the Sunglass Hut in Westfield Belden Village Mall. Within a couple of hours, more glasses with a false price tag were exchanged at Macy’s for four watches, total value $1,081.

Lake Township

Arrest

A Kent Avenue Northeast man, 26, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 6 after he allegedly hit his father in the face.

North Canton

Thefts

Two Winston Avenue Northeast neighbors reported thefts to police July 31. A woman said her vehicle was entered and a laptop computers and business documents, total value $2,000, were stolen. A neighbor said someone entered his garage and ­vehicles and stole a wedding ring, watch and earphones, total value $610.
