Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Jesse Avenue woman, 21, was charged with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug instruments. Police said the woman was seen leaving a suspected drug location and she had a felony warrant.

A Berghoff Street woman, 38, was charged with possession of heroin.

A Neville Avenue woman, 30, was charged with possession of crack, possession of heroin, possession of drug instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said officers were dispatched to Spicer Street and Johnston Street for a female doing drugs and passed out under the bridge.

A Inman Street man, 18, was charged with receiving stolen property, and drug possession. Police said the man was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen. Officers found a marijuana-filled cigar in the center console.

A Stevenson Point woman, 27, was charged with tampering with evidence, drug possession, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and molesting police property. Police said the woman was stopped while driving through an OVI checkpoint at East Market Street and Prospect Street. Officers reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the car.

When officers asked for her driver’s license, officers observed her reaching into her purse and grabbing a small plastic bag of marijuana to cup it in her hand. When officers tried to place her in handcuffs, she pushed away, grabbed the drugs off of the back of the car, spilled the drugs on the ground, and then tried to get back into her car to drive away.

Barberton

Arrests

A Crocus Place man, 42, was jailed on charges of domestic violence and assault July 21 following an altercation with the mother of his two children and her mother at a Frank Avenue residence. He was accused of grabbing her by the face and scratching the younger mother’s face and then pushing her mother, injuring her arm.

An argument at a Creedmore Avenue residence July 15 led to the arrest of a boyfriend, 38, for domestic violence after he allegedly picked up his girlfriend by her throat and threw her onto a bed.

Burglaries

An East Tuscarawas Avenue woman told police July 20 that her garage was entered. A chain saw and blower, total value $725, were stolen.

A lawn mower, TV set and other items, total value $1,100, were stolen from a Sixth Street Northwest man’s home on July 14.

Bath Township

Arrests

A 43-year-old Bath Road man was charged July 21 with obstructing official business.

Theft

Several vehicles parked in the Springside Drive area were broken into overnight July 22.

Coventry Township

Arrests

A Pine Top Circle man, 31, was jailed on a charge of felony theft July 17 after an Akron woman said her purse and contents were stolen. Police stopped the man on North Turkeyfoot Road and said cash was in plain view on the vehicle’s console but the purse and other items were not found.

A Hyacinth Avenue woman, 42, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence July 17 after being accused of throwing objects at her husband and punching him in the head several times, a sheriff’s report said.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A 29-year-old Bailey Road man was charged July 21 with child endangering. A witness told police the man knocked on his door, walked inside the apartment, then passed out. The man’s 2-year-old child was alone in his apartment for several hours.

A 40-year-old Olympic Street man was charged July 21 with felonious assault. He is accused of pushing his ex-girlfriend down the stairs, breaking her collar bone.

A 43-year-old 19th Street man was charged July 25 with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police found the man passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle on 20th Street at Chestnut Boulevard.

A 23rd Street couple were charged July 23 with domestic violence. They are accused of assaulting each other.

A 26-year-old Akron man and a 25-year-old Akron woman were charged July 22 with disorderly conduct. A witness told police the two were engaging in sexual activity on the boardwalk near Sheraton Suites, 1989 Front St.

Breaking and entering

Copper pipe was stolen from a vacant home in the 1300 block of Sackett Avenue July 25.

Burglary

A home in the 3100 block of Charles Street was broken into July 24. An iPod and cash were taken.

Criminal damaging

A 37-year-old Akron woman was charged July 26 with criminal damaging. She is accused of damaging a disabled vehicle blocking a private drive when she pushed it with her truck in the 1300 block of Hillcrest Drive. The vehicle’s owner was waiting for a tow truck

Identity theft

A 12th Street woman reported July 20 someone used her personal information to make purchases from her bank account.

Vandalism

A 50-year-old Hathaway Drive woman reported July 22 someone caused $15,000 worth of damage to her roof.

Green

Breaking and entering

Someone entered a Mayfair Road man’s detached garage July 15 and stole tools and power equipment, total value $2,230.

Burglary

A set of golf clubs and bag, total value $2,000, were reported stolen July 19 from a Mansard Lane garage.

Thefts

A portable planner and miscellaneous tools and power equipment, total value $1,580, were stolen July 21 from an Everhart Drive man’s truck.

A Mayfair Road man reported July 14 that a brad nailer, chain saws and other tools, total value $4,320, were stolen from his shed.

An East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man reported July 19 that his 9mm semi-automatic handgun, valued at $800, was stolen from his bedroom.

Hudson

Animals

Police were called to the 7300 block of Winsted Road for a report of a turtle in the roadway. The officer redirected the turtle.

Identity theft

A Darrow Road man reported July 16 his identity was stolen.

Norton

Assault

A 36-year-old Doylestown woman said she was visiting a 31st Street Southwest business when an ex-boyfriend shoved her into a fence, causing injuries to her hand.

Springfield Township

Arrest

A 24-year-old Fair Lane man was jailed on a charge of felony domestic violence July 15 after police said he caused physical harm to his girlfriend, police said.

Breaking and entering

An air compressor and other items, total value $1,080, were stolen from an East Mayfair Circle garage July 14.

An unlocked window at the Lakeview Lighthouse Church on Kubler Road resulted in the theft of a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. No value was listed.

Arrests

A 47-year-old Lake Run Boulevard woman was arrested July 17 on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Tallmadge

Arrest

A 27-year-old Akron man was arrested July 23 on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Cuyahoga County

North Royalton

Suspicious persons

Two females were arrested July 20 in the parking lot of St. Paul’s Church. Security observed one of the females fall out of the car. Both females were intoxicated and also underage.

Vandalism

A vehicle that was parked on Langdon Lane was reported damaged. The vehicle was parked on the street July 19 and the windshield was smashed. There were eggs all over the vehicle as well.

Domestic

Police were called to a graduation party July 20 on Royalwood Road. Two brothers, who were intoxicated, got into an argument over a drinking game. Both men were charged with domestic violence.

Public indecency

Police arrested a man July 25 after he was observed urinating on the side of a building and exposing himself to residents.

Medina County

Brunswick

Suspect found

Police officers stopped a man July 20 on West 130th Street who was sought after an altercation at the Adult Day Care Center in Hinckley. The Brunswick man was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Vandalism

A parks employee reported July 22 that someone spray painted graffiti in the restrooms at Hopkins Park.

Harassment

A woman called police to complain that she believes her estranged husband had taken out an ad on Craigslist that listed her name and cell phone number.

Medina

Criminal damaging

A Birch Hill Drive resident called police July 22 to report that someone knocked over a block wall.

Suspicious person

Police were called to a North Court Street business July 25 after workers complained of a suspicious man in a vehicle in the parking lot. It turns out the man was using the wifi from the business to watch TV.

Neighbor complaint

Police were called to North Huntington Street after a resident complained that a “neighbor looked at her weird.”

Wadsworth

Arrests

A 44-year-old Broad Street man was charged July 23 with threatening domestic violence.

Assault

Police are investigating a reported assault that happened in the 900 block of Broad Street July 24.

Found property

An abandoned electric scooter was found by officers in the 100 block of Durling Drive July 24.

Misuse of a credit card

A Sally Circle resident reported July 22 someone used his credit card for several out-of-state purchases.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

On July 13, police jailed a South Boulevard Northwest man, 22, on a charge of making false alarms after he admitted, following an investigation, that he falsified a burglary report and staged the bedroom crime scene himself.

Thefts

A Lantern Hill Circle Northwest resident told police July 17 that he received a cashier’s check for $22,600 for his car and later learned that the check was counterfeit and had been forged.

Police investigated a report July 16 that Wonderworld Learning Center on Pittsburg Avenue had subcontracted a photographer, who received checks totaling $2,200 from about 25 families, to take children’s photos in early May. The parents still didn’t have the photos more than two months later, the police report indicated.

Welding equipment and other items, total value $1,200, were reported stolen from a Garrettsville man’s truck July 16 while parked at the Microtel Inn and Suites on Sunset Strip Avenue Northwest.

An iPod and sunglasses, total value $750 and belonging to two Lake Township sisters, were reported stolen July 15 while the teens were at Tinseltown on Mega Street Northwest.

Lawrence Township

Arrest

A Carrollton man, 18, was jailed on a charge of felony theft July 13. A warrant accuses him of taking aluminum siding from a Lawrence Township home.

North Canton

Arrests

A Canton man, 40, of 35th Street Northwest, was jailed on charges of robbery and possession of criminal tools July 19. He is accused of concealing four steaks in a plastic bag and leaving the Acme Fresh Market on North Main Street without paying. A store manager held the suspect until police arrived, a report showed.

A Sheraton Drive Northwest woman was arrested at her home July 15 on a warrant alleging domestic violence.

Plain Township

Arrests

A Canton woman, 26, of Linwood Avenue Southwest, was jailed July 19 on charges of theft from a disabled person, receiving stolen property, misuse of credit cards and forgery, all felonies. She was arrested at a Columbus Road Northeast location.

A Middlebranch Avenue Northeast man, 40, was jailed July 16 on a charge of domestic violence involving his girlfriend.

Charges of domestic violence, felony disrupting public services and unlawful restraint were filed against an Oak Avenue Northwest man, 23, on July 15. Police accused him of breaking the cellphone belonging to the mother of his child and holding the woman against her will.

A Kaiser Avenue Northeast man, 23, and a 23-year-old male with no permanent address were jailed on charges of breaking and entering July 15. They are accused of entering a vacant house on Gilbert Avenue Northeast.

Uniontown

Burglary

A Sweitzer Street resident told police July 15 that her 46-inch flat-screen TV, total value $1,350, was stolen from her home following a break-in.

Theft

A set of golf clubs and bag, total value $1,200, were stolen from his driveway, a Peony Street man told police July 14.

Portage County

Kent

Arrests

A 50-year-old Ravenna woman was charged July 22 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

A 28-year-old Neville Drive man was arrested July 20 on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon. Police report the man was intoxicated and disorderly in the 100 block of Erie Street.

Burglaries

A residence in the 600 block of South Water Street was broken into July 19.

A home in the 600 block of South Water Street was broken into July 20. About $50 in cash was taken.

Wayne County

Wayne Sheriff

Assault

An Orrville man, 29, reported to Aultman Dunlap Hospital officials July 20 that he didn’t remember who assaulted him. A friend took the man with serious injuries to the hospital after he was found at state Route 57 and U.S. 30 in East Union Township.

Breaking and entering

Golf clubs and other sports equipment, valued at $2,570, were reported stolen July 23 from a garage in the 12800 block of Clinton Road in Chippewa Township.

Items were reported taken July 20 from a storage unit at Lukes Canal Road Storage, 3818 Canal Road, in Wooster Township.

Burglaries

Collectables and 22 pills were reported taken July 23 from a residence in the 2600 block of Shamrock Way in Wooster Township.

A TV and a PlayStation 3, valued at $450, were reported stolen July 20 from a residence in the 5900 block of Akron Road in Green Township.

A television and two checkbooks worth $600 were reported taken July 21 from a residence in the 4700 block of Doylestown Road in Chippewa Township.

Thefts

Jewelry, an apron and $80, total value $1,296, were reported stolen July 22 from a car in the 15500 block of Hatfield Road in Chippewa Township.

A wallpaper pasting machine and tools valued at $6,085 were reported stolen July 22 from Hoffman Wallpaper, 15787 McCollum Drive, in Chippewa Township.

Vandalism

Someone shot out transformers causing $2,500 in damages July 23 that belonged to Holmes Wayne Rural Electric, 8703 South Elyria Road, in Clinton Township.

Wooster

Arrest

A Wooster man, 24, was arrested July 19 on charges of felony domestic violence and disorderly conduct after a 32-year-old woman reported that he struck her at a home in the 500 block of West Larwill Street.

Forgery

A 52-year-old Wooster woman reported July 23 that someone withdrew $1,200 from her account at Chase Bank on North Walnut Street without her permission.

Identity Fraud

A Wooster woman, 57, reported July 15 that someone filed a 2012 federal tax return in her name without her permission.

Possession of drugs

Police found a heroin kit during a traffic stop July 11 at West Larwill Street and Columbus Road.

Thefts

A wallet with $150 was reported taken July 17 from a store in the 1800 block of Burbank Road.

A Brookside Drive resident reported July 18 that someone used his Social Security number to file a tax return.
