A woman left a big clue behind when she robbed an Akron video rental store Tuesday afternoon — her own phone number, police records show.

According to police, the woman approached the counter at the Family Video at 1117 S. Arlington St., just before 3 p.m. to rent a DVD. The woman gave her phone number to the clerk so he could look up her account and then put a note on the counter saying she had a gun.

The clerk didn’t see a weapon, but told police the woman held her hand under her hoodie like she was pointing something at him and he believed it was a gun. The clerk opened the cash register drawer and the woman took 276.26.

Police, using the woman’s phone number, later showed the clerk an array of suspect photos.

An arrest warrant was issued for Denise Myles, 41 of Sylvan Avenue, for a charge of aggravated robbery, records show.

Police did not say what movie the woman tried to rent or whether she took the DVD with her.
