Akron police Wedensday said they had arrested the parents of a 2 year-old who overdosed on a synthetic opiate in March.
Randy Boggs II, 27, and Catelynn Smiley, 21, face charges of felony child endangering.
The case has been under investigation since March 7 when Boggs found his son unresponsive, police said.
Someone called 9-1-1 and reported the toddler was having trouble breathing and had blue lips at a home in the 500 block of Brittain Road in Goodyear Heights.
Authorities used a heroin antidote to revive the child, who likely ingested the drug shortly after midnight in his Akron home.
There was heroin in the home at the time, police said, and both Boggs and Smiley told investigators they were drug users.
The boy, whose identity police have not disclosed, was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital and placed into custody of the Summit County Children’s Services.
