Akron

Arrests

A Juneau Avenue man, 27, was charged with domestic violence after police said he was arguing with the mother of his children and punched her in the head.

A Peerless Avenue man, 18, was charged with robbery and assault after police said he assaulted a man leaving a store. He then held the victim while an accomplice went through the man’s pockets, a report said.

A Fairbanks Place man, 24, was charged with aggravated robbery after police said he used a handgun to rob a man of his cellphone and clothing.

A Dietz Avenue man, 18, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence after police said he stabbed his father multiple times during an altercation.

An East Waterloo Road man, 27, was charged with violation of a protective order, obstructing and disorderly conduct after police said patrons in a bar called officers to report an altercation between the man and the victim. When officers arrived, the man was trying to fight patrons and interfered with the police investigation.

A Himelright Boulevard man, 29, was charged with forgery after police said he passed nine counterfeit $100 bills at a store.

A Cleveland Street woman, 27, and a Delaware Place man, 29, were charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary after police said they knocked on a woman’s door and misidentified themselves to gain entry. Once inside, they began beating her until she escaped into another room. The suspects then stole a TV, cellphone and cash, police said. In a separate incident that Akron police reported, the man earlier was charged with domestic violence and violation of a protection order after police said he pushed his girlfriend down some stairs during an argument.

A Village Point Drive man, 31, was charged with domestic violence after police said he choked the mother of his children and head-butted her in the face.

An Excelsior Avenue man, 50, was charged with burglary, violation of a protection order, domestic violence menacing, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reported that when a woman arrived at her home, she found the man — identified as her former partner — waiting inside. He threatened to kill her, then took her car keys and fled.

A Kellogg Avenue woman, 27, and a Kellogg Avenue man, 37, were charged with manufacturing of meth, illegal assembly of chemicals, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangering after police said officers recovered a meth lab in the home. A small child was present.

A Delia Avenue man, 19, was charged with burglary for an incident dating to Sept. 23. Police said he broke into a house on Beardsley Street and stole numerous items, including a shotgun and musical equipment. The suspect apparently cut himself in the process of the burglary and was identified by DNA.

A Toledo man, 24, was charged with felony theft after police said he wrote checks out to area businesses that had forged account and routing numbers.

Identity theft

A Barnsleigh Drive man, 46, reported Feb. 22 that someone secured a $5,000 loan from a payday lender in his name. The loan is now in default.

A Beechnut Hill Drive woman, 27, reported Feb. 20 that someone used her personal information to file a fraudulent tax return.

A Shade Road man, 59, reported Feb. 19 that someone used his personal information to file a tax return. Another return was filed using his address.

Coventry Township

Theft

A worker for Fuhlman Construction on Swartz Road told investigators Feb. 15 that someone cut a chain-link fence on the property and stole 25 concrete forms valued at $2,500.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A Munroe Falls Avenue man, 32, was charged Feb. 25 with domestic violence. He is accused of punching and choking his girlfriend.

Police charged a Center Street woman, 44, with domestic violence Feb. 24. She is accused of threatening her sister.

An Akron man, 35, was charged Feb. 24 with forgery and theft. He is accused of cashing six counterfeit checks, for a total of more than $3,000, at a State Road business.

A Lancaster Avenue woman, 34, was charged Feb. 20 with assault. She is accused of hitting a 37-year-old woman with a beer bottle at a Bailey Road tavern.

Aggravated menacing

An Americana Drive man, 22, reported Feb. 22 that a man held a gun to his head and told him not to mess with his clothes.

Assault

Two employees of the Red Fox, 1767 State Road, reported they were assaulted Feb. 19 by a man who was asked to leave the bar. The man fled after punching the employees in the head.

Burglary

A home in the 600 block of Arcadia Avenue was burglarized Feb. 19. Items valued at more than $1,200 were taken.

Theft

An Akron woman, 58, reported Feb. 19 that while she was shopping at Village Thrift, 2930 State Road, someone took her purse from her shopping cart.

Fairlawn

Arrests

A Parkhill Drive man, 48, was stopped by police for equipment and traffic violations. A computer check revealed the man had an active warrant for safecracking in Cuyahoga Falls.

A Merriman Road, Akron, man was arrested on Akron warrants for numerous housing violations after a traffic stop at 3750 W. Market St.

A Dillard’s employee reported Feb. 23 that a 14-year-old boy resisted store security after attempting to leave without paying for cologne valued at $160. The boy, who had two misdemeanor warrants for theft, was charged with theft and resisting arrest and was released to his mother.

Thefts

On Feb. 19, a Norton woman said someone took her engagement ring from the first-floor restroom of an office building at 3090 W. Market St. Only first-floor offices with a key have access to the restroom.

An employee of Summit Dentistry, 3045 Smith Road, reported Feb. 23 that a cash box containing $415 was missing. She discovered a key to the box out of place on the counter, then discovered the box had been removed from the front desk. It was last seen at closing Feb. 21, the same day police were notified about an alarm set off by a front lobby motion detector.

Arrests

A Mayfair Road woman, 24, was summonsed to Barberton Municipal Court on a domestic violence charge Feb. 9 after she and her husband were involved in a physical altercation, a Summit County sheriff’s report said.

Forgery

A Gunarth Drive resident said someone opened an account in her name without permission and obtained $1,891 in cash, according to a deputy’s Feb. 2 report.

Thefts

A Highland Drive man told authorities that someone used his Visa card to make a $1,453 transaction at Lowe’s in Jackson Township that he had not authorized. The card number also had been used at a Rite Aid in Massillon.

A New Franklin man reported Feb. 12 that a $500 money order was stolen from a Pickle Avenue drop box for rent checks.

Burglary

A Barberton man told police Feb. 18 that someone stole $1,500 from a living room on Pride Court.

Theft

Police said a Pearlman Road couple was scammed out of $2,000 on Feb. 18 by a man claiming to be their grandson and in need of the cash for legal issues in Las Vegas. The funds were sent in four Reload It money cards.

Police are investigating a Feb. 23 report of sexual assault.

Springfield Township

Arrests

Police summonsed an Akron woman, 51, of Merton Drive to Akron Municipal Court on a charge of patient abuse/neglect after a 65-year-old woman was found alone in a Springfield Group Home van parked outside the East Waterloo Road facility. An incident report indicated the outside temperature was 5 degrees, and the woman might have been in the van an estimated 45 minutes.

A Columbia, S.C., man, 45, was summonsed to Akron Municipal Court on a theft charge Feb. 15 after police said he used a magnetic key to remove the security devices from merchandise at Walmart on South Arlington Road.

A Krumroy Road man, 25, was taken into custody at his home and charged with domestic violence and criminal damaging Feb. 12 after a Bilburston Road woman said her son threw her to the ground during an argument and damaged hot water plumbing before fleeing her home.

Theft

A customer entered Dave’s Darn Near Anything store on Canton Road on Valentine’s Day and stole $1,400 from a desk and $200 from an employee’s purse and fled.

Arrests

A Kent man, 24, was arrested Feb. 23 on warrants for theft and misuse of a credit card.

A Cambridge Drive man, 68, was charged Feb. 21 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting a 45-year-old family member.

An Elmhurst Drive man, 23, was charged Feb. 20 with assault and a Samira Road man, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct after police broke up a fight at a restaurant on Fishcreek Road.

Identity theft

A Courtiff Circle man, 57, reported Feb. 21 that someone filed a fraudulent tax return in his name.

Theft

A Berwin Drive man, 46, reported Feb. 24 that he was contacted by someone who claimed to be a U.S. Treasury Department employee. He sent the man nearly $6,000 in the scam.

Tallmadge

Arrests

When an officer initiated a traffic stop on a man exiting Tallmadge Circle to Northeast Avenue, the man immediately confessed. But not to driving outside of his lane. According to the officer, as soon as he approached the vehicle, the man said, “I messed up. I’m sorry.” When the officer asked him to elaborate, the man admitted stealing the bottle of windshield waster fluid that was on his front passenger seat from Circle K on Tallmadge Circle. The officer left a message for the store manager to call if he or she wanted to prosecute.

An Akron man, 25, was charged Feb. 21 with aggravated possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police stopped him as he walked on West Avenue, carrying bags and a backpack. An officer discovered that the man had several active warrants. During his arrest, he admitted having methamphetamines in his pocket.

During a traffic stop Feb. 17, a 62-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both of Akron, were charged with possession of chemicals used in the manufacturing of drugs. The rest of the meth lab was found at their Akron residence.

Arrest

Officers discovered a driver passed out in his car at the intersection of State and Sprague roads on Feb. 26. The car’s transmission was still in drive. He passed out again in the jail while being booked and later refused “to take a breath test and went back to sleep,” a report stated.

Drugs

Officers on Feb. 19 assisted MEDWAY with a drug bust in the 3900 block of Ganyard Avenue. A Brunswick man, 39, was arrested on warrants for drug trafficking.

Burglary

A Smokerise Drive resident called police Feb. 25 to report that a number of items were missing from the home.

Medina Township

Neighbor dispute

An East Burgundy Bay Boulevard resident called police Feb. 23 to complain that a neighbor left 10 bags of trash out all week.

Montville Township

Citizen assist

Police were called to a Trystin Tree Drive residence Feb. 24 for odd noises. Officers determined the “extreme” temperatures were causing the house to creak.

Wadsworth

Arrests

A College Street man, 55, was charged Feb. 20 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs after he was involved in an accident at State and Reimer roads. He was booked and released. Nearly three hours later, police received word the man was driving again. He was found and again charged with OVI, as well as driving under the administrative license suspension he received during the earlier arrest.

Identity theft

Police are investigating a case of identity fraud reported Feb. 23.

An Olympus Drive man, 41, was charged Feb. 20 with felony domestic violence.

Police charged a Summit Gardens Boulevard man, 34, with felony domestic violence Feb. 24.

A Currie Hall Parkway woman, 35, was charged Feb. 24 with aggravated robbery.

Stark County

Arrests

A Freedom Avenue Northwest husband and wife were charged with domestic violence Feb. 16 after an altercation at their residence. The man, 34, was accused of pushing his wife down the steps leading out of the house. A witness told officers she also saw him push his wife to the ground in the driveway and was swinging a bat at her. Police said the wife threw a candlestick at her husband, hitting his leg.

Theft

A man’s $3,000 wedding ring was reported stolen from his Laura Avenue Northwest home Feb. 18.

North Canton

Theft

A North Canton resident told police Feb. 12 that while she was at Mercy Health Center on Whipple Avenue Northwest two rings, total value $735, went missing from her wallet while she was being treated in another room. One ring was recovered.

Arrest

A Canton man, 31, of Shorb Avenue Northwest was charged with food stamp fraud Feb. 18 after Stark County deputies executed a search warrant in the 3800 block of Cleveland Avenue Northwest.

Uniontown

Breaking and entering

Police were investigating a break-in at Republic Trucking on Cleveland Avenue Northwest, where an estimated $600 worth of miscellaneous tools were stolen. Police said they were told a former employee’s pass code was used to gain entry.

Arrests

A Columbus man was charged Feb. 25 with possession of cocaine.

A Rittman man of the 100 block of North State Street was charged Feb. 25 with theft, receiving stolen property and misuse of credit cards.

A North Lawrence man of the 6100 block of Dalton Fox Lake Road was charged Feb. 23 with theft and passing bad checks.

A Wooster man of the 100 block of West Vine Street was charged Feb. 20 with two counts of drug abuse and illegal use of drugs.

A Wooster woman of the 6900 block of Back Orrville Road was charged Feb. 19 with forgery, criminal simulation and petty theft.

An Akron man of the 100 block of Jewett Street was charged Feb. 17 with failure to report change of address as a habitual sex offender and possession of marijuana.

A Shreve man of the 5400 block of Columbus Road was charged Feb. 19 with possession of cocaine, open container of liquor and reckless driving.

A Chillicothe man was charged Feb. 19 with two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, two counts of possession of drug abuse instruments, two counts of theft, misuse of credit cards, receiving stolen property and possession of drugs.

Burglary

A 12-gauge shotgun, a long rifle and a Bushman AR-15, total value $2,450, were reported stolen Feb. 21 from a residence in the 15900 block of Galehouse Road, Chippewa Township.

Jewelry and oxycodone tablets, total value $400, were reported taken Feb. 16 from a home in the 8800 block of Snoddy Road, Clinton Township.

Fire

A 2012 Dodge truck valued at $12,000 was found on fire Feb. 26 at Burbank and West Steiner roads, Canaan Township. The Canaan Fire Department extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Possession of controlled substances

A Waynedale High School official reported Feb. 24 that a student tried to sell prescription pills to another student at the school, 9050 Dover Road, East Union Township.

Theft

Sixty oxycodone pills were reported taken Feb. 23 from a residence in the 2300 block of Blachleyville Road, Wooster Township.

Wooster

Arrest

A Killbuck man, 32, was charged Feb. 19 with shoplifting, possession of meth, illegal possession of chemicals for manufacture of drugs and illegal conveyance of drugs to a detention facility after police arrested him at Discount Drug Mart, 625 Beall Ave., a report said.

A Wooster man, 25, was arrested Feb. 20 on a warrant and was found with heroin as he walked in the 200 block of West Vine Street.

Breaking and entering

A window screen was damaged Feb. 25 at a vacant residence in the 200 block of Mulberry Street, a real estate company reported.

PlayStation games, a washer and dryer and numerous household items, total value $33,060, were reported stolen Feb. 19 from a storage unit in the 2700 block of Akron Road.

Identity fraud

A Lincoln Street woman reported Feb. 24 that someone used her identity to receive $1,048 in state tax returns.

A Spink Street man reported Feb. 19 that someone used his Social Security number to file tax returns.

Thefts

A Mindy Lane man, 59, reported Jan. 27 that someone used his identification.

A Monterey Street woman, 50, reported Feb. 18 that personal information was stolen from her.

A Cleveland Road woman, 44, reported Feb. 17 that she sent $1,800 to purchase a car she found on Craigslist but later found the transaction was fraudulent.

A car window was broken and a purse with items worth $440 was reported stolen Feb. 20 from the parking lot of Wooster High School, 515 Oldman Road.
