Akron

Arrests

A Sherman Street man, 20, was charged with drug abuse, weapons under disability, trafficking in drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic violence after police said he pointed a shotgun at his parents and threatened to kill them. Officers said they recovered the shotgun in a child’s bedroom under the mattress.

A Flora Avenue woman, 25, was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, and a Flora Avenue man, 27, was charged with three counts of receiving stolen property after police said they stole property at various scrap yards on various dates.

A Grant Street man, 60, was charged with domestic violence after police said he slapped, punched and threw his girlfriend against the wall, then kicked her in the head. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

A Copley Road man, 32, was charged with domestic violence after police said he hit his sister in the head with a wooden board during an argument.

A Lovers Lane man, 55, was charged with receiving stolen property after police said he was in possession of a stolen car.

A Superior Avenue man, 24, was charged with disrupting public service, domestic violence and criminal damaging after police said he got into a verbal argument with his daughter’s mother over a gift that he bought for another woman. According to a report, he pulled her hair and took her phone so she could not call police.

A Second Avenue man, 42, was charged with breaking and entering after police said he broke into a garage on Yorkshire Drive and stole a John Deere snow blower.

A Springdale Street woman, 23, was charged with concealed carry of a weapon under disability. Police said she was the driver of a vehicle involved in a traffic accident, and officers recovered a handgun that she had unloaded and given to her friend to take home.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 38, was charged with violation of a protection order after the victim reported he drove by her house several times. He was found a block away from the house.

An East Emerling Avenue man, 22, was charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business. Police said he climbed up the back of a woman’s house and came in through an unlocked door. The two argued and she told him she would take him home, then she locked her door once he stepped outside. The man then broke through the door and repeatedly struck her, police said. He tried to flee when officers arrived, but police tracked him through the snow.

A Rugby Street man, 23, and a Canton man, 18, were charged with aggravated robbery after police said the two used a handgun to rob a man.

A Tallmadge woman, 26, was charged with theft and misuse of a credit card. Police said she took a firearm and credit card from a residence while she was caring for the occupant and used the credit card to make purchases exceeding $5,000.

A Neville Avenue woman, 30, was charged with felony theft of a credit card and misuse of a credit card. Police said she was the victim’s caretaker and used the card to make unauthorized purchases.

A South Rhodes Avenue man, 45, was charged with burglary, vandalism and possession of criminal tools. Police said he was found in a vacant apartment removing the hot water tank and told officers that he lived in the neighboring apartment and wanted hot water.

An East Archwood Avenue man, 42, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing. Police said he assaulted his boyfriend multiple times, then threatened to kill him.

A The Brooklands man, 39, was charged with domestic violence and violation of a civil protection order. Police said he grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and threw her to the ground, then punched her in the face.

A Derbydale Road man, 21, was charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. Police said he and two other men forced their way into a house on Lovers Lane and robbed the occupant at gunpoint.

A Peerless Street man, 31, was charged with burglary. Police said he crawled into a window of his 10-year-old daughter’s home while her mother was upstairs sleeping.

Criminal mischief

A Rotunda Avenue man reported Jan. 12 that someone stuffed a wig into the tail pipe of his wife’s vehicle.

Coventry Township

Breaking and entering

A dirt bike, total value $850, was reported stolen Jan. 13 from a Lake Vista Road garage.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A State Road man, 48, was charged Jan. 19 with domestic violence. He is accused of assaulting his girlfriend in their home.

An Akron man, 43, was charged Jan. 16 with illegal processing of a drug document. He is accused of presenting a forged prescription to a pharmacist at Walgreens, 2645 State Road.

Breaking and entering

A home in the 900 block of Curtis Avenue was broken into between Jan. 14 and Jan. 17. Copper pipes were taken.

Identity theft

A Clyde Avenue woman reported Jan. 15 that someone used her personal information to withdraw between $100 and $4,000 from her bank account.

A Washington Avenue man reported Jan. 15 that someone used his personal information to secure a credit line in his name, borrowing more than $500.

Safecracking

A safe in a home in the 2600 block of Fairland Street was broken into between Jan. 12 and Jan. 16. The owner told police the safe was drilled open, then relocked. Once the safe is opened by a locksmith, the owner will be able to determine if anything was taken.

Theft by deception

The owner of Moe’s Restaurant, 2385 Front St., reported Jan. 16 that a man scammed the restaurant out of $60 by claiming his wife broke a tooth on their food Dec. 27. She told police she recently learned the man made the same claim at six other area restaurants.

Arrests

An East Nimisila Road man was charged with domestic violence Jan. 14 after police said he hit his girlfriend in the face with a pillow and punched her in the mouth during an argument.

An Avanti Lane woman, 24, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 8 after police said she and her mother argued and the daughter began breaking items in their home. The suspect later was located at a home on Fortuna Drive.

New Franklin

Arrest

A Renninger Road boy, 17, was booked on a charge of domestic violence at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on Jan. 4 after a police report stated an officer heard the boy threaten to stab his father and cut off a body part.

Norton

Arrests

A Norton Avenue man, 49, was charged Jan. 14 with aggravated burglary and felonious assault. He is accused breaking into a neighbor’s trailer and trying to hit a man with a hammer.

Identity theft

A Kay Boulevard woman reported Jan. 20 that a relative used the woman’s identity to open a utility account.

Springfield Township

Arrest

Charges of endangering children and illegal manufacture of methamphetamines were leveled against an Abington Road man, 28, on Jan. 9. Police said the drug was being made at the home. A Crestline Drive man, 30, also was arrested and jailed on the drug charge. Police have issued a warrant for a man, 31, of Columbine Avenue on the same drug charge.

Theft

A power washer valued at $500 was reported stolen Jan. 6 from the porch of a Shady Acres Drive home.

Arrests

Three people were arrested Jan. 15 during a traffic stop on Graham Road at Kings Mill Boulevard. The 31-year-old driver was charged with two counts of driving under suspension and one count of failure to signal a lane change. A Ravenna woman, 26, was charged with obstructing official business for giving a false identity to police, and a Cuyahoga Falls man, 26, faces charges of illegal possession of chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 31, was charged Jan. 16 with theft and misuse of a credit card.

Assault

A New York man, 53, reported Jan. 16 that a man he knows assaulted him in the 4900 block of Hudson Drive.

Identity theft

A North Norman Drive man reported Jan. 19 that someone used his personal information to withdraw $400 from his bank account.

A Stow Road woman reported Jan. 15 that someone used her personal information to open a cellular phone account in Florida.

An Emerald Woods Drive woman reported Jan. 17 that someone used her identity to open a bank account.

Theft

A Silverwood Drive woman reported Jan. 12 that someone took $4,200 worth of jewelry from her home between Jan. 10 and Jan. 12.

Arrests

An Akron man, 24, was arrested Jan. 15 on charges of obstructing official business, criminal damaging, resisting arrest, falsification and three counts of menacing.

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 40, was charged Jan. 14 with aggravated menacing and telecommunication harassment.

An Akron man, 24, was charged Jan. 18 with felony drug possession.

Police arrested an Akron man, 24, on a charge of escape Jan. 15.

Burglary

A home in the 300 block of North Kaser Drive was burglarized between Jan. 11 and Jan. 15.

A home in the 300 block of Bluestone Court was burglarized, according to a Jan. 16 report.

Identity theft

An Eric Lane resident reported Jan. 14 that someone in Philadelphia attempted to withdraw money from his bank account.

A Cherry Street man, 29, was charged Jan. 19 with felony assault.

Arrests

A police report from Jan. 14 showed that a Beryl Street Northwest woman, 40, knocked her husband’s food and drink onto the floor during an argument and she threatened to kill him. She was charged with domestic violence.

Police apprehended a woman, 23, at Motel 6 on Sunset Strip Avenue Northwest on Jan. 13 on a domestic violence warrant filed by Streetsboro police.

A Canton man, 34, of 17th Street Northwest was jailed Jan. 10 by Jackson officers on a charge of aggravated robbery following a heist at the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant on Dressler Road Northwest. Police said the man entered through a rear door about 11:30 p.m., grabbed the cash drawer and fled with employees in pursuit. He was caught by the workers and detained for police.

An Akron man, 37, and woman, 27, both of Hammel Street, were charged with felony theft Jan. 9 after police said they tried to leave the Sears store in Belden Village Mall with $1,399 worth of merchandise without paying. The man also was charged with felony possession of criminal tools used to remove security devices from the merchandise.

A Hickorylane Avenue Northwest man, 38, was charged Jan. 9 with felony domestic violence after police said he locked his girlfriend in an unheated garage a day earlier.

Theft

Police were called Jan. 11 to Three Brothers Corner Tavern on Fulton Drive Northwest to investigate the theft of $2,214 meant for a bank deposit.

Lake Township

Arrest

A State Street Northwest resident was charged with domestic violence Jan. 10 after police said he yelled at the mother of their child and raised his fist, causing her to believe he was going to harm her as she held the child.

North Canton

Arrest

An Akron man, 19, of East South Street, was arrested by Akron police Jan. 8 on University Avenue and turned over to North Canton police for jailing in Stark County on felony warrants charging breaking and entering, vandalism and theft.

Theft

A diamond-plated tool box, tools and 30 CDs, total value $1,204, were reported stolen Jan. 3 from a Morello Street Southwest man’s vehicle.

An Orion Street Northwest man, 60, was charged with domestic violence after police said he grabbed his daughter and forcibly removed her from the home Jan. 8.

Arrests

A Beach City man of the 6400 block of state Route 250 NW was charged Jan. 22 with breaking and entering.

A Wooster man of the 400 block of East North Street was charged Jan. 20 with failing to report a change of address as a sex offender.

A Barberton man, 58, was charged with theft Jan. 17 after he allegedly took two wallets from an elderly couple at a residence in the 6000 block of Millbrook Road, Clinton Township.

An Orrville man of the 100 block of Bell Avenue was charged Jan. 19 with using weapons while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.

A homeless man was charged Jan. 19 with breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, theft and forgery.

An Apple Creek man of the 50 block of Melody Lane was charged Jan. 19 with aggravated robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and forgery.

A Canton man of the 2900 block of Kirby Avenue NE was charged Jan. 15 with tampering with evidence, fleeing a police officer and obstructing official business.

Breaking and entering

A light bulb worth $100 was reported stolen Jan. 19 from a CSX railroad crossing at Jordan Road, Canaan Township.

Burglary

Copper pipe and tools valued at $1,450 were reported stolen Jan. 15 from a residence in the 18100 block of Edwards Road, Chippewa Township.

Identity fraud

A Plain Township woman, 64, reported Jan. 21 that someone she knows used her identity to obtain a credit card and a loan. The woman also reported that she suspects the perpetrator depleted her bank account of certificates of deposit that she had saved for her grandchildren.

Theft

A Canaan Township woman, 88, reported Jan. 20 that someone she knows forged her name to seven checks and obtained $1,020 in cash.

Wooster

Breaking and entering

An employee reported Jan. 19 that someone ransacked New Destinations Thrift Store, 5382 Cleveland Road. Jewelry was strewn on the floor but it was unknown if anything was taken.

Drug possession

Crack cocaine and a metal smoking device were found Jan. 12 at a residence in the 500 block of Spink Street.

Robbery

A Wooster woman reported Jan. 17 that three men attempted to rob her when she tried to deliver a pizza in the 200 block of North Bever Street.

Theft

Seventy Percocet tablets were reported stolen Jan. 7 from a residence in the 600 block of East Henry Street.

Diazepam and Vicodin tablets and $40 were reported taken Jan. 17 from a residence in the 600 block of East Henry Street.

A Rebecca Street resident reported Jan. 19 that a bottle of cologne and a wallet with bank cards valued at $70 were missing from his residence in the 1000 block.
