Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Cole Avenue man, 34, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault. He also was charged with drug abuse.

A Tulip Street man, 57, was charged with domestic violence after police said he slapped his girlfriend in the face, causing a large knot above her eye. The man said he pushed her to the ground in self-defense after she pulled a knife.

A Chalker Street man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability and misrepresenting his identify after a traffic stop. Police said he also has a felony domestic violence warrant out of Summit County.

A Berwin Street woman, 28, was charged with robbery after police said she concealed a pair of shoes inside her purse and attempted to walk out of a store without paying.

A Stephens Road man, 31, was charged with robbery and drug abuse after police said he concealed a pair of shoes inside his sweatpants and attempted to walk out of a store without paying. He also fought with store security, a report said.

A Wilmot Street man, 50, was charged with domestic violence after police said he punched his brother in the mouth, loosening a tooth.

A Darrow Road man, 19, was charged with four counts of aggravated robbery after police said he and an accomplice held four people at gunpoint and had them empty their pockets.

An Independence Avenue man, 43, was charged with theft after police said he stole at least $8,000 over several days from his employer.

A homeless man, 23, was charged with burglary, disrupting public service and domestic violence after police said he kicked in the door at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, punched her in her face and arm and took her cellphone.

A Fawler Avenue man, 19, was charged with willful flee, receiving stolen property and weapons under disability after police said he fled from them in a stolen vehicle and in a subsequent foot chase.

A Copley Road man, 38, in Akron, was charged with domestic violence after police said he went to the home of his baby’s mother, grabbed her and threw her against a wall. After he left, he threw a rock through the bedroom window and damaged the front door frame, police said.

An Arnold Avenue woman, 34, was charged with domestic violence and domestic violence menacing after police said she punched and scratched the face of her husband.

A Westfield Road, Westfield Township, man, 33, was charged with burglary. Police said he and a female accomplice set up the burglary of a West Waterloo Road house where he formerly lived.

A Vesper Street man, 22, was charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and felonious assault after police said he, his sister and another man kicked in a bedroom door at a Matthews Street home, entered the room and pistol-whipped and beat the victim.

A Nadia Court woman, 41, was charged with forgery and misrepresenting identity after police said she gave them her daughter’s personal information at a traffic stop.

A Mount Vernon Street woman, 38, was charged with illegal assembly of chemicals, possession of chemicals, illegal manufacturing of drugs and possession of meth, possession of drug instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they found a meth lab in her home.

A 51-year-old man with no permanent address was charged with breaking and entering and theft after police said he was witnessed removing hinges from a detached garage on Middlebury Street and stealing items from the garage.

A 16th Street Southwest man, 44, was charged with illegal manufacturing of drugs, illegal assembly of chemicals, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said a search of the home revealed items commonly used to manufacture meth.

A Crestwood Avenue man, 25, was charged with robbery after police said he and another man pushed down a 19-year-old woman and took her belongings in an incident on West Market Street.

Bath Township

Arrests

A man, 46, was charged Sept. 26 with assault and theft, and a woman, 47, was charged with complicity to commit theft and assault. Police said he stole a basket filled with energy drinks from Acme Fresh Market, 3979 Medina Road, and assaulted a security officer who tried to stop him. The woman drove the escape vehicle, police said.

Theft

Three people are suspected of stealing several eyeglass frames from Pearle Vision, 3893 Medina Road.

Coventry Township

Arrests

A Willowview Drive man, 45, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 21 after police said he threw his girlfriend around the bedroom and threw her home phone against a wall.

A Summit County sheriff’s deputy jailed a Manchester Road man, 45, on a domestic violence charge after a woman said he hit her.

A Ponciana Avenue man’s girlfriend, 55, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 21 after police said she attempted to run over him with her car.

A Boat Drive woman, 56, was charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing official business after a deputy said that a cellphone that was among pieces of missing evidence later was found in the bottom of a filled sink.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A Third Street man, 21, was charged Sept. 30 with domestic violence after police said he assaulted his girlfriend.

A Cuyahoga Falls High School freshman, 15, was charged Sept. 25 with possession of alcohol after police said he brought vodka to the school. Police said a 14-year-old student consumed some, became sick and was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital.

A boy, 14, was referred to youth services Sept. 25 after his mother reported he drank alcohol while in school at Cuyahoga Falls High School.

A Victor Avenue man, 23, was charged Sept. 28 with possession of drug paraphernalia after police said he was carrying several hypodermic needles.

A Macedonia man, 21, was charged Sept. 27 with vandalism. Police said that while incarcerated at Cuyahoga Falls Jail, he flooding two cells with water, urinated in his cell and broke a fire sprinkler head.

Assault

A Winter Parkway man, 52, reported Sept. 27 that someone punched him in the face as he was pulling his car into a parking space at home.

Breaking and entering

A home in the 2900 block of Lillis Drive was entered between Sept. 26 and Sept. 28. Property valued at $1,300 was taken.

Ethnic intimidation

A 10th Street woman reported Sept. 23 that someone spray-painted racial slurs on her home and fence.

Identity theft

A Chestnut Boulevard woman reported Sept. 29 that someone used her personal information to file a fraudulent federal tax return.

Misuse of a credit card

A Cleveland woman reported Sept. 25 that someone used her credit card number at a State Road business for $750 worth of unauthorized charges.

Thefts

A Prange Drive woman reported Sept. 29 that someone took her mother’s ruby ring, valued at $1,000.

An 89-year-old woman reported Sept. 27 that someone took her purse while she was shopping in Acme Fresh Market, 2630 Bailey Road.

A 36-year-old Elmwood Street man reported Sept. 28 that someone took $160 from his wallet and his cellphone from an unlocked locker at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium.

Green

Arrests

An Eagle Drive woman, 40, was charged with domestic violence after police said she threw her daughter to the ground during a fight Sept. 24.

A Pickle Road woman, 28, was charged Sept. 22 with domestic violence after police said she fought with her boyfriend.

A Canton man, 64, of Fourth Street Northwest was arrested at Akron-Canton Airport on Sept. 21 on a warrant for domestic violence.

Burglary

Power tools and a flat-screen TV, total value $600, were reported stolen Sept. 24 from a King Drive home and garage.

Theft

A Laburnum Road resident told investigators Sept. 19 that he was scammed out of $2,500 by a caller who said the man’s grandson was jailed in New York and needed funds to get out.

New Franklin

Arrests

A Milton Avenue man, 41, was charged with felony domestic violence Sept. 18 after police said his girlfriend said the man attacked her. He said he hit her in self-defense.

A Cleveland man, 50, who is the ex-husband of a West Comet Road woman, was charged with felony domestic violence Sept. 17 after she told police he pulled her hair and clothing, threatened to kill her, hit her in the head and broke her cellphone.

Thefts

A South Main Street man told police Sept. 22 that his safe, four handguns and other items were stolen and the residence was ransacked. No value was listed.

A Clinton woman told police that a caller told her she owed the IRS $3,500 in back taxes and to call back when she had purchased seven $500 money cards. She gave the caller the cards’ serial numbers, then learned she had been scammed.

A Clinton man told police that a caller said he was with the IRS and said the man owed the government $7,824. The man told police he transferred the money from two Rite Aid pharmacies to an unknown location.

Arrest

A Barberton man, 22, was charged Sept. 28 with public indecency. Police said he exposed his genitals and masturbated while inside a pickup in the drive-thru at Wendy’s, 3178 Greenwich Road, wearing an “Einstein” wig. Police found the man in the drive-thru line of McDonald’s in Barberton, still wearing the wig, with his pants unfastened.

Child pornography

An Orchard Drive man reported Sept. 25 that someone sent an email that appeared to be sent by his daughter. The email had pornographic pictures and videos, including those including children. He said he did not open or play the videos.

Springfield Township

Arrests

A Chattanooga, Tenn., man, 65, was charged with aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct after police said he threatened an off-duty police officer with a pair of scissors at the Walmart on South Arlington Road.

An Akron man, 18, of Jason Avenue, and a Tell City, Ind., man, 44, were charged in warrants with theft and other lesser counts when computer-related electronic items, total value $1,130, were taken from the Walmart on South Arlington Road on Sept. 15.

Thefts

A $1,000 log splitter was reported stolen Sept. 22 from a Klages Boulevard backyard.

A Mogadore resident was checking her Christopher Drive rental property Sept. 18 when she discovered a furnace, vanity, well pump and other items, total value $1,550, were gone. The theft occurred shortly after a tenant had been evicted.

Police and authorities of Quick Clean Car and Pet Wash on Mayfair Road are investigating what happened to $11,834 that had been given to an employee to pay the firm’s taxes for the past two quarters. The taxes remain unpaid.

Two air condensers, total value $6,000, were reported stolen Sept. 15 from Hillside Memorial Park on Canton Road.

Child pornography

Police are investigating a report filed Sept. 29 involving obscene photos sent to a 16-year-old girl.

Identity thefts

A woman, 73, reported Sept. 26 someone used her identity in an attempt to open a bank account in another state.

A man, 52, reported Sept. 28 someone used his identification to open a charge account and make nearly $300 in purchases.

Suspicious person

A woman reported Sept. 30 that she saw a man holding a firearm inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart. Police arrived to find an 18-year-old man inserting batteries he had just purchased into a pellet gun. Police advised the teen to transport the gun in the trunk.

Thefts

Landscaping equipment was taken from a lawn service trailer parked on Prospect Drive south of Seasons Road on Sept. 25.

Tools were stolen from a trailer belonging to Green and White Outdoors, 4830 Hudson Drive, on Sept. 30.

Tallmadge

Arrests

An Akron woman, 23, was charged Sept. 29 with prostitution. The charge stemmed from a search warrant executed inside a Midway Plaza massage parlor in July.

An Akron man, 65, was charged Sept. 29 with two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving minors. The arrest was the result of a seven-month investigation, police said.

Assault

An employee with Common Ground Family Services, 12 Southwest Ave., reported Sept. 27 that a man who was in the building to visit his child became enraged when he was asked to hand over his car keys. The suspect is accused of putting his hands around the employee’s neck.

Breaking and entering

Landscaping equipment was taken from a shed in a yard on Industry Street on Sept. 29.

Burglary

Jewelry valued at $3,000 was taken from a home in the 600 block of Crossings Circle on Sept. 26.

Identity theft

An Eastwood Avenue woman, 52, reported Sept. 27 that someone used her personal information to apply for unemployment compensation.

Thefts

A 2000 Honda Civic was stolen from the 1500 block of Brittain Circle on Sept. 30. A relative of the owner is suspected of taking the car.

A former employee of Kmart, 555 South Ave., was charged Sept. 27 with theft. She is accused of taking $1,150 from the store.

Cuyahoga County

North Royalton

Robbery

Officers were called to a report of an armed robbery Sept. 30 at Antonio’s Pizza on Sprague Road. The incident was similar to an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant in Parma the previous day. Strongsville police received a tip that a possible suspect was at the Walmart in that city. Officers arrested the man and later another suspect.

Vandalism

A resident at an apartment complex on Stoneybrook Drive called police Sept. 27 to complain that someone spray-painted a swastika and the words “white power” on the side of the building.

Officers were called to a West Friendship Street home Sept. 30 for a report of people inside of a vacant house.

Suspicious activity

Officers were called to the area of Huffman Road on Sept. 26 after a report of suspicious activity in the area. An officer reported he was “unable to locate any UFOs.”

Suspicious activity

Officers were called to Wadsworth Road on Sept. 28 after a resident raised concerns about helicopters flying over the house.

A Hinckley man, 19, was charged Sept. 30 with possession of drug abuse instruments. Police said he was found in a vehicle parked in a High Street parking lot after a drug overdose.

Identity theft

A Highland Avenue man reported Sept. 25 that someone used his identity to open credit accounts.

Portage County

Kent

Arrests

A Cuyahoga Falls man, 31, was charged Sept. 25 with violating a protection order.

Police charged an Akron man, 33, with domestic violence Sept. 25 after an incident in the 300 block of South Water Street.

An Akron man, 53, was charged Sept. 28 with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

An Edinburg, Ohio, woman, 40, was charged Sept. 27 with possession of heroin and possessing drug abuse instruments.

Police charged a Stow man, 24, with aggravated possession of drugs and failure to display headlights Sept. 26.

A Spaulding Drive man, 19, was charged Sept. 30 with two counts of receiving stolen property.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Perry Township man, 23, of Genoa Avenue Northwest was charged with tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property, both felonies, when arrested in the 6500 block of Portage Street Northwest on Sept. 24.

A Raleigh Street Northwest man, 43, was charged with felony domestic violence Sept. 23 after police said he knocked down his wife, dragged her into the house and issued other threats.

Police charged an Acadia Street Northwest man, 62, with felony disrupting public services and domestic violence Sept. 21. Police said he knocked down his wife, dragged her into the house and grabbed her cellphone as she fled to a neighbor’s for help.

A Massillon man, 43, of Bebb Avenue Southwest was jailed on a warrant for felony identity fraud.

An Echodell Avenue Northwest man, 53, was charged with domestic violence Sept. 19. A police report said his daughter told school authorities that he had choked her and hit her several times.

Burglaries

An Islamorada, Fla., man told police Sept. 20 that his home on South Island Drive Northwest in Jackson Township was entered and $12,000, a $300 laptop computer and two handguns were stolen.

Miscellaneous tools, total value $1,550, were reported stolen from Sears in the Belden Village Mall by two men who selected the merchandise and left without paying Sept. 26.

A Canton woman said her $600 cellphone was stolen from her work van Sept. 19 while parked at Rescare on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

Five air-conditioning units, total value $25,000, were dismantled at the Arthritis Clinic of Stark County on Holiday Street Northwest to take the piping, police were told Sept. 18.

A $3,353 log splitter was reported stolen from the rental area at Home Depot on Portage Street Northwest on Sept. 17.

A Canton woman reported Sept. 17 that an amplifier system and speakers, total value $1,500, were stolen from the Gameday Grille on Fulton Drive Northwest.

Arrest

A Sweitzer Street man, 22, was jailed Sept. 24 on a warrant for domestic violence.

North Canton

Arrests

A Canton man, 41, of Fourth Street Northeast was jailed Sept. 24 on warrants charging passing bad checks and theft, both felonies.

A Canton boy, 17, of Woodland Avenue Northwest was booked Sept. 19 at the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center on a warrant charging rape. Police said he sexually assaulted his girlfriend while they were at the 10th Street Northeast home of one of his relatives.

Plain Township

Arrest

Investigation and video identification led to charges Sept. 23 against two men for the theft of $13,700 worth of jewelry from the Kmart on Harmont Avenue. Charges of grand theft and obstruction of official business were lodged against a Canton man, 34, of Greenfield Avenue Southwest and an East Canton man, 32, of Broadway Avenue Northeast. They already were in jail on Massillon police charges involving incidents at the Massillon Walmart and a Radio Shack.

Uniontown

Theft

Jewelry, tools and other items, total value $9,397, were reported stolen Sept. 14. Various items had been taken over several weeks before officers were notified, police said.
