Arrests
A Charles Street man, 23, and a Crestwood Avenue man, 23, were charged with receiving stolen property, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Police said the men ran from officers after being seen in a stolen vehicle. After being found hiding on a rooftop, they failed to follow officers’ orders and resisted being taken into custody.
An Arden Place man, 20, was charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing official business after he allegedly ran from officers while trying to enter a stolen car.
An Akron man, 20, was charged with receiving stolen property after police reported seeing him in a stolen vehicle at Rosemary Boulevard and Ericsson Avenue.
A Lake Street man, 20, was charged with willful fleeing and theft. Police said the man stole bread racks from Acme No. 18 on East Avenue and led officers on a vehicle pursuit.
A Storer Avenue man, 28, was charged with willful fleeing, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and drug abuse of marijuana. Police said the man led officers on a chase through West Akron. He stopped in front of a South Rose Boulevard residence and ran into the backyard, where he was apprehended. He was driving on a suspended license. He was also in possession of 11 bullets in his inside jacket pocket and a bag of marijuana was found in his vehicle.
A Bertha Avenue man, 35, was charged with felony willful fleeing and obstructing official business. Police said the man led officers on a chase. He ran through red lights and almost struck several vehicles. The man damaged his vehicle on railroad tracks, left the vehicle and ran from officers.
A Sherman Street man, 21, was charged with burglary and criminal damage. Police said the man threw large rocks through a bedroom window. He entered the home and found the resident hiding in the living room.
A Forrest Street man, 18, was charged with receiving stolen property, obstructing official business and drug abuse. Police said the man fired shots into an occupied structure on Bittaker Street.
A South Rhodes Avenue man, 28, was charged with burglary and violating a civil protection order. Police said a woman came home and found a man she has a protection order against inside the residence. The man also took $703 that belonged to the woman.
An East Miller Avenue man, 53, was charged with breaking and entering. Police said the man broke into the a shed and took three fishing poles. As he was walking down the owner’s drive, the owner stopped him on the sidewalk and recovered the fishing poles. They walked back to the home and the man ran when he found out the owner was calling the police. The man was apprehended behind an East Voris Street residence.
A South Hawkins Avenue man, 19, was charged with burglary. Police said the man and an unknown man broke into a Nome Avenue residence and took a TV and jewelry.
A Nome Avenue man, 31, was charged with receiving stolen property and possessing weapons illegally. Police said the man was found unconscious after an accident and was in possession of a stolen pistol.
A Clay Street man, 22, was charged with receiving stolen property after police pulled him over in a stolen vehicle on South Street.
A Byers Avenue man, 18, was charged with aggravated robbery. Police said the man was inside the residence when the owner came home. The man struck the resident in the head with a gun when the resident didn’t give the man what he asked for.
A Cuyahoga Street man, 21, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said the man was found in the driver’s seat of a stolen vehicle on Home Avenue and Eastwood Avenue.
A Lovers Lane man, 21, was charged with complicity to commit aggravated robbery. Police said the man along with two unknown men robbed and carjacked a person at gunpoint.
An East 105th Street Cleveland man, was charged with rape. Police said the man was arrested by the Cleveland Police Department and transported to Akron.
A Carey Avenue woman, 26, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence. Police said the woman got into a fight with a man and she stabbed him in the hand with a kitchen knife in self defense.

Arrest
A Frank Avenue girl, 17, was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on Nov. 27 with two counts of felonious assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing official business, during an incident outside a 14th Street Northwest residence. Police said she kicked one officer in the groin during the arrest attempt and his $400 pair of prescription glasses were destroyed. A man, 18, who resides at the 14th Street address, was charged with obstructing official business.
Breaking and entering
Copper pipe and a deep sink were stolen from the basement of a vacant house on Diamond Avenue, the owner reported Nov. 26.
Theft
A woman in charge of finances for the Barberton Band Boosters Bingo on West Hopocan Avenue told police Nov. 27 that $3,041 is missing from between October and November.

Arrests
A man, 34, was charged with theft by deception Dec. 3 after he allegedly short-changed several businesses.
A woman, 21, was charged with theft by deception and menacing Dec. 3 after she allegedly short-changed a local business.
Public indecency
An employee of Acme, 3979 Medina Road, reported Dec. 2 that a man exposed himself in the store.
Copley Township
Arrests
An Akron man, 27, was arrested for driving under the influence Nov. 29. The responding officer said the driver was driving recklessly and almost ran into a telephone pole. He only stopped when the officer placed his spotlight on his rearview mirror.
A Wadsworth woman, 27, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and possession of marijuana Nov. 29. Officers found her car unoccupied in a ditch on Copley Road. Police also found drug paraphernalia containing marijuana in her car.
Coventry Township
Breaking and entering
A Hummel Drive resident said most of his tools, including nine sets of wrenches and five sets of sockets and much more, were reported stolen from his shed Nov. 18. No value of the tools was listed.
Burglary
A side door of a South Main Street house was pried open and a well water pump and water softener, total value $1,000, were stolen, a sheriff’s deputy was told Nov. 27.

Arrests
A Bath Heights Drive man, 23, was charged Dec. 3 with trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs. Police found two plastic bags of marijuana and five pills in the trunk of his vehicle.
An Akron man, 22, was charged Dec. 2 with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, having a weapon while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During his arrest, police found marijuana and a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
Assault
A woman reported Dec. 1 that her daughter was assaulted while at Riverfront Mall.
Burglary
Someone entered a Bailey Road home through an unlocked patio door Dec. 3 and took a purse containing credit cards and blank checks.
A Winter Parkway apartment was burglarized Dec. 4. A small amount of cash was taken.
Robbery
A night manager of a State Road pizza shop reported Dec. 3 that a gunman demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Theft
A purse containing credit cards and $100 in cash was taken from a shopping cart while the owner shopped at Marc’s, 2900 State Road.
A Fourth Street resident reported Dec. 1 someone broke into his locked locker at the Natatorium and stole belongings valued at more than $2,000.
A Wyoga Lake Road man reported Dec. 3 someone stole his 1994 Ford Escort from his driveway. The keys were in the vehicle. Police discovered the car was involved in a hit-skip crash.
A handgun and holster were stolen from the center console of a car in the driveway of a home in the 1700 block of Broad Boulevard on Dec. 4.
A 2001 Ford Taurus was stolen Dec. 5 from the front yard of a home in the 600 block of Taylor Avenue. The keys were in the vehicle.
Fairlawn
Assault A Lenox Village Drive woman, 34, told police her live in boyfriend, 38, assaulted her Dec. 2. He allegedly became irritated with her after they had been drinking. She said he picked her up and threw her onto the fireplace hearth. She tried to call her mom, but the boyfriend knocked it out of her hands after placing his hands around her neck. She eventually called 911, after which the boyfriend left.
An Akron woman, 45, was arrested on theft charges Dec. 3. She allegedly tried to steal $426.23 worth of clothing from Walmart by stuffing them down her pants. Officers caught her driving southbound on I-77 at White Pond Drive.

A Uniontown man, 19, was arrested on theft charges Nov. 29. He allegedly stole a pair of pants worth $49.99 from Macy’s.
A New York woman, 42, was arrested for disorderly conduct and intoxication Nov. 28. Summit Mall security told police she was being disorderly at the Rail. After police arrived she refused to stand next to the police car and kept on walking. Her father picked her up from the scene. She was banned for six months from Summit Mall.

Someone broke into a Wilshire Park Drive home Nov. 30 and stole jewelry.
Someone entered a home Nov. 30 in the 5200 block of Knollshire Drive.
Drugs
A pharmacist for Drug Mart, 5863 Darrow Road, reported Nov. 29 that the day before, someone used a fraudulent prescription to get drugs.
Theft
A Hunting Hollow Drive resident reported Nov. 27 that jewelry was missing from her home.
An Aurora Street resident reported Dec. 3 that someone stole jewelry from her home.
New Franklin
Arrest
Police jailed a Will Drive woman, 24, on charges of domestic violence and obstructing official business after police were told that she hit her boyfriend over the head with a glass candle and hit him in the face and scratched his neck during an altercation. Police said the suspect gave a false incident location and refused to give police other information they requested.
Norton
Arrests
A man, 31, and woman, 36, were arrested Dec. 3. The man was released to Wadsworth police on a warrant from their department. The woman was charged with obstructing official business for hiding the man and telling police he was not in the home.
Breaking and entering
Several storage lockers were broken into at a Greenwich Road facility Dec. 6.
Tools were stolen from a box trailer parked at an East Frontage Drive business between Dec. 1 and 3.
A Barber Road business was broken into Dec. 4. About 150 pounds of copper scrap was taken.
Theft
A man reported Dec. 4 that two vehicles he left at a Wadsworth Road transmission repair shop in August and October are gone. He said the shop appears to be closed and he has been unable to contact the owner.
Springfield Township
Arrests
An Akron man, 22, of LaCroix Avenue was jailed Nov. 29 on a warrant for aggravated robbery. The suspect was accused of showing three victims a handgun Nov. 5 in the office of the Warehouse Internet Café on Massillon Road, ordering the three onto the floor and then fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash going westbound in a vehicle on Krumroy Road.
An argument in the Springfield High School cafeteria on Sanitarium Road on Nov. 29 resulted in an East Mapledale Avenue girl, 16, being jailed at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of felonious assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
A Mansfield man, 48, was jailed for rape of a Spring Hill Junior High School girl, 12, Nov. 28. The man was termed a friend of a friend of a member of the victim’s family.
A father-son argument at a Celia Avenue home Nov. 28 resulted in the father, 38, being jailed for felony domestic violence for pushing his 18-year-old son out the door and trying to fight more outside, police said.
Thefts
Someone made off with $8,000 in cash between Nov. 19 and 26 from a Columbine Avenue home, a resident told police Nov. 27.
Between Nov. 5 and 26, someone cut the fence at an Ohio Edison substation on Massillon Road and stole 100 feet of copper, total value $500.

A Kent Road man, 18, was charged with two counts of domestic violence and one count of resisting arrest Dec. 1 after he allegedly assaulted relatives.

Someone broke into a Lake Run Boulevard home Dec. 3.
Thieves took an iPod and cash after breaking into a home Nov. 27 in the 2000 block of Echo Road.

A woman told police that she saw a man fondling himself in a car in the parking lot of Target, 4200 Kent Road.
Theft
A Twin Lakes woman told police Nov. 30 that her 85-year-old husband’s wedding ring was stolen from a L’Ermitage Place nursing home.
Theft by deception
A Hudson Drive woman, 38, told police Nov. 30 that she sent money to a man who said he needed funds for a surgery. She wired $300 to Nigeria.

Arrests
A Whitehall Drive man, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 1. Police investigating a complaint of a marijuana smell coming from an apartment seized two digital scales, a glass bong, a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and a marijuana grinder.
An Akron woman, 66, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and failure to control Dec. 3. Police responding to a call of a car “driving all over the road and crashing into other vehicles” on East Avenue found the woman in the driver’s seat of a damaged vehicle stopped on East Avenue at Tallmadge Circle. She was transported to a local hospital.
Identification theft
A Deerwood Drive woman reported Dec. 4 someone used her name, picture and phone number to place a Craigslist advertisement soliciting sex. The woman told police she received several phone calls and text messages from men. One of the men who called told her about the ad.

A Trease Road man, 48, was arrested at his home Dec. 5 on an Akron warrant alleging that he violated a protection order.

Arrests
A Streetsboro man, 20, was arrested Dec. 5 on a warrant alleging he failed to appear in court on a charge of heroin possession.
A 37-year-old Longmere Drive man was charged Dec. 3 with domestic violence.
Five men, ages 19 through 21, were charged Dec. 1 with burglary and aggravated riot.
Two men, ages 21 and 22, were charged Dec. 2 with inducing panic, discharging a firearm, and having a weapon while intoxicated.

Arrests
A Denshire Drive Northwest man, 20, was jailed for felony aggravated burglary, assault and criminal mischief when arrested Nov. 28 after he turned himself in to Canal Fulton police.
Warrants containing three counts of felony receiving stolen property were lodged against an Elm street man, 36, when arrested at his home Nov. 27.
Jackson Township
Arrest
A Thackeray Avenue Northwest man was jailed Nov. 28 for felony domestic violence, a day after he allegedly attempted to cut up clothing of the mother of his two children with a knife and pushed and hit her.
Robbery
A male with a firearm forced a supervisor at Perkins Restaurant on Everhard Road Northwest to go to the manager’s office about 12:20 a.m. Nov. 23, took the victim’s cellphone, disconnected the office phone and then fled when confronted by the manager.
Explosive device
On Nov. 16, a Jackson police officer was en route home when he spotted a propane tank in the intersection of Kellydale Avenue and Hyatt Street Northwest. Discovering the tank was part of an improvised explosive device, the officer alerted superiors. The item was photographed, dusted for fingerprints and rendered safe before being seized as evidence.
Thefts
A supervisor with Givens Construction of Louisville told police Nov. 26 that steel forms and form stakes, total value $9,000, were stolen from a construction site at Timken Research on Mount Pleasant Road Northwest. The spokesman said the loader on site was used to load items by someone who had to have the code to operate the vehicle.
Two tires, total value $1,000, were reported stolen from a car and truck hauler while parked Nov. 20 at the Travel Centers of America on Portage Street Northwest.
North Canton
Breaking and entering
Vandals caused $5,050 in damages to a North Canton Memorial Stadium locker room, soccer concession stands and the soccer field at the two facilities off Wise Avenue Northeast and Seventh Street. The break-ins were reported Nov. 18 along with a stolen golf cart and other items totaling $5,250. The golf cart was found later in the 300 block of Harmon Street Southeast.
