Party’s long over, but cleanup continues: Bath police seek tips to ID shooter at July 7 Airbnb bash

BATH TWP.: Police are hoping one of the 300 or so people who attended a party this month at a vacation rental can help them identify the person who pulled the trigger in a drive-by shooting that injured a teenager.

The July 7 incident occurred after a Bedford woman rented a Sourek Road house on Airbnb and posted a flyer on social media advertising a party. No more than 20 people were supposed to be at the house, per the rental contract. But police said about 300 people, mostly in their 20s, showed up.

Bath Township officers responded to several complaints at the house that night before contacting the homeowner, who was unaware of the party and asked police to shut it down.

As officers were getting partygoers to leave, someone fired a shot from a moving car, police said. A bullet hit a 17-year-old in the knee. He was treated at a Cleveland hospital and released.

Police said that anyone with information that leads to the arrest and indictment in this case is eligible for a reward up to $2,000 through Summit County Crimes Stoppers. Tips can be provided anonymously and rewards paid anonymously. Call 330-434-2677 or text TIPSCO with your tip to 274637 (CRIMES).

The owner of the home where the party occurred has apparently stopped renting out the property — at least on Airbnb. A check of Airbnb listings Friday showed no homes for rent on Sourek Road.
