A 47 year-old Akron woman is in the Summit County jail facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges for a May 16 crash that killed an Akron man walking on Easter Avenue.

Akron police said Gloria Jean Lee , of South Maple Street, was drunk and driving with a suspended license when her 2001 Buick Regal struck Darrone Jones Sr., 57, of Bellevue Avenue.

Lee’s blood alcohol content at the time was 0.198, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Jones, who went by the nickname “Daffy,” died after paramedics took him to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, police said.

According to his obituary, Jones is survived by two daughters, a son and 12 grandchildren.
