AKRON: Police have charged a man who they say shot a Goodyear Heights convenience store clerk with the clerk’s own gun during a May 17 robbery.
Rueben Jovone Woodruff, 22, of Dundee Avenue, faces charges of robbery and felonious assault in the case.
Police said Woodruff entered Pioneer Market armed with a knife. After Woodruff demanded money, he stabbed the clerk in the back, police said.
The clerk grabbed his own gun to protect himself, but Woodruff stripped the clerk of the firearm and shot the clerk in the neck.
Police said they were able to identify Woodruff through tips shared with investigators.
