SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Detectives have arrested three teens for setting two vacant homes ablaze over the past six months, police said.
During one of the house fires earlier this month, a township firefighter and paramedic fell through a floor, but wasn’t seriously injured, WEWS (Channel 5) reported. More than $100,000 in damages was done to homes on Celia and Carper avenues, police said.
Detectives arrested William Conley, 18, of Akron; Mickey Thrasher, 18, of Springfield and a 15 year-old from Springfield whose name was not released. All face arson and breaking and entering charges, police said.
Springfield Township Police Chief David Hoover said the teens are suspected of setting two car fires in the township and that Akron police are investigating whether they may be behind a recent string of vehicle fires there, too.
In recent weeks, there have been at least eight vehicle fires in Kenmore and Firestone Park.
