Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Hillman Road man, 19; a Miles Avenue man, 22; and a Stephens Avenue man, 35, were charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools. Police said officers were called to a Leonora Avenue residence for a burglary call. The 22- and 35-year-olds were observed walking away from the home. The 19-year-old was found inside a vehicle with copper pipes, flashlights and a duffle bag containing tools used to cut pipes.

A Delaware Place man, 27, was charged with domestic violence and drug abuse. Police said he assaulted a woman who is 4 months pregnant with his child. The man was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Barberton

Arrests

A West Tuscarawas Avenue man, 24, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Feb. 23 after police said he hit, shoved and kicked his girlfriend during an argument.

Police jailed an Akron man, 45, of McKinley Avenue, on a charge of domestic violence Feb. 23, a day after he was accused of grabbing his wife by the throat and pushing her to the ground during an altercation.

Copley Township

Thefts

A Palace Way woman, 47, told police Feb. 28 that someone stole a metal placard from the back of her black Ford Escape.

On Feb. 27, a Medical Mutual employee told police an employee stole 19 HP laptop computers. The investigation is continuing.

A Heartstone Circle boy, 16, told police someone took his $300 headphones from his backpack while he was eating lunch at Copley High School.

Theft

On Feb. 26, a Boat Drive resident said 25 sheets of metal roofing and other items, total value $1,295, were stolen from a Flynn Avenue location.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A 16-year-old South Hidden Valley Road girl was charged March 5 with domestic violence. She is accused of pushing her mother, 49, down a flight of stairs. The woman declined medical treatment.

A 30-year-old Munroe Falls man was charged March 1 with resisting arrest and harassment by an inmate. He is accused of spitting on officers while resisting arrest. Police said the man told them he is HIV positive.

Burglary

A home in the 2000 block of Issaquah Street was burglarized March 6. Several dresser drawers were found open and a bed was moved. Nothing appeared to be missing.

A home in the 1800 block of 12th Street was broken into March 5. Cash and personal items were taken.

An apartment in the 2000 block of Winter Parkway was broken into Feb. 28. Items valued at more than $3,400 were taken.

A home in the 100 block of Hayes Avenue was burglarized Feb. 26 or 27. Copper pipes and wiring were taken.

Theft

A Silver Lake Boulevard man reported March 1 someone took his iPhone, driver’s license and a credit card from a locker at the Natatorium. The phone was traced to a Springfield Center Road address, where Akron police arrested a suspect. The items were recovered.

Fairlawn

Arrests

An Akron man was arrested March 5 on theft charges. Police said he tried to confuse a cashier, then reached over the counter, grabbed money and fled the store.

A Metro RTA driver helped police identify the suspect, who was arrested when he got off the bus.

Theft

On March, 2, an unknown suspect walked out of the Boumadi Clothier at Summit Mall with two leather jackets without paying.

Surveillance cameras caught him placing each jacket into a plastic bag he brought into the store. Total value of items stolen was $3,990.

Arrest

A Medina woman, 29, of East Smith Road, was summoned to Barberton Municipal Court on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

A TSA worker at Akron-Canton Airport found an 11-inch dagger in her computer bag.

Burglary

A Dunstone Avenue man reported Feb. 20 that his home had been entered and a camcorder and other items, total value $4,600, were stolen.

Hudson

Telephone harassment

An Arborwood Drive resident reported Feb. 28 she received a text message containing a pornographic image.

Munroe Falls

Arrests

A 20-year-old Akron man was charged March 7 with trafficking in marijuana and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police said the suspect nearly ran into a police cruiser while traveling on state Route 91. During a traffic stop, marijuana, plastic bags and a digital scale were found in the vehicle, police said.

New Franklin

Safecracking

The owner of the American Used Trade Center on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road told police Feb. 17 that someone entered his safe and stole $50,000.

Norton

Menacing

A Norton Middle School parent reported March 2 that her son and his friend were threatened by another child while playing a video game. The suspect threatened to bring a knife to school and harm the boys because they blew up his virtual house.

Springfield Township

Arrests

An 11-year-old Linnway Drive boy was booked at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center on Feb. 21 on a charge of inducing panic after he was suspended from school, then left home without his mother’s knowledge. Police and volunteers searched for two hours and a reverse 911 call to 80,000 residences and businesses was used. The boy was found playing at the McDonald’s restaurant on Canton Road.

Breaking and entering

On Feb. 25, a spokesperson for the Conti Corp. of Lowellville told police that brass and copper pipes and other items, total value $4,665, had been stolen from a trailer at the construction site of Springfield High School on Sanitarium Road. The following day, much of the stolen items were received at PSC Metals in Akron and a warrant was issued for a 27-year-old Barberton man.

Burglary

Cash, a handgun and two rings, total value $2,554, were reported stolen Feb. 23 from a Proctor Road home.

Arrests

Four people in a vehicle cited for illegally parking in a handicap space at Walmart, 3520 Hudson Drive, were arrested on other charges. A 20-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both of Canton, were charged with obstructing official business. Both were wanted in Carroll County on felony warrants. The 23-year-old driver of the vehicle, who also lives in Canton, was charged with obstructing official business and illegally parking in a handicap space. He is also being held on a warrant from another jurisdiction. The fourth person, a 21-year-old woman, is charged with obstructing justice. They are accused of giving false information to police.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested March 2 on a charge of robbery.

Sexual assault

Police received two reports March 1 that two women, ages 53 and 68, were sexually assaulted in separate incidents between January and March 2012.

Theft by deception

A 52-year-old Orchard Drive man reported March 4 that he wired an undisclosed amount of money to claim a $250,000 prize. He later learned there was no prize.

Tallmadge

Arrests

A 36-year-old Clinton man and a 42-year-old Barberton woman were charged March 7 with theft and possession of a drug abuse instrument. Police said the two took merchandise from Dollar General, 49 Midway Plaza. Police found syringes on both suspects while searching them. Both also had warrants from other jurisdictions.

Identity theft

A Senn Drive man reported March 7 someone used his information to open a cable television account.

Vandalism

A Commerce Street company reported March 2 that the day after an employee was terminated, valuable information was deleted from the computer.

Misuse of a credit card

A North Pardee Street woman reported March 6 her credit card was used for unauthorized Internet transactions.

Identity theft

A South Kaser Drive couple reported March 5 someone used their personal information to file an income tax return.

Theft

A Stratford Avenue landlord reported March 3 that his former tenants took his appliances from the apartment when they moved.

Arrests

A 19-year-old homeless woman was charged March 5 with forgery.

Tampering with coin machine

Someone tried to break into a coin-operated washer and dryer at Silver Meadows Apartments, 889 Lawrence Court, on March 1.

Arrest

A Summer Evening Drive man, 61, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Feb. 23 after an argument turned physical.

Jackson Township

Arrests

An Echo Springs Street Northwest woman, 25, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Feb. 25. A police report indicated she was arguing with a man in the driveway when she pushed and bit him and punched him in the face.

A Plain Township woman, 21, of Martindale Road Northeast, turned herself in to Jackson police on a felony forgery charge Feb. 24. Police said she altered a tip at the Olive Garden restaurant on Dressler Road Northwest from $5 to $15.

Police said a Stuhldreher Street Northwest woman was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Feb. 24. She is accused of assaulting the father of their baby and pointing a handgun at the victim.

Burglary

A Candleberry Street Northwest resident said Feb. 23 that three handguns, cash and other items, total value $2,754, were stolen from the residence.

Wayne Sheriff

Arrest

An Orrville man, 22, was arrested March 2 on charges of breaking and entering and theft after police found him inside PSC Metals Inc., 972 Old Columbus Road, Wooster Township. Police said the man had 28 pounds of copper valued at $98.

Breaking and entering

A safe with $300 and a revolver were reported stolen March 3 from a residence in the 18300 block of Harrison Road, Paint Township.

Burglaries

A television, a Wii system and two games, total value $715, were reported stolen March 7 from a residence in the 5500 block of Doylestown Road, Milton Township.

A computer, jewelry and other items with a total value of $7,731 were reported stolen March 5 from a residence in the 14700 block of Oak Grove Drive, Chippewa Township.

Thefts

A credit card was reported taken March 4 from a business in the 800 block of South Geyers Chapel Road, Wooster Township. Someone used it to purchase items worth $224 at area stores.

An employee was reported to have been caught on tape Feb. 27 taking tools, an iPod and $70, total value $1,259, from Priority Air Charter, 11234 Hackett Road, East Union Township.

Wooster

Arrest

A Wooster woman, 51, was arrested March 2 on charges of breaking and entering, theft, possessing drug paraphernalia and criminal damaging after police found her at Carquest Auto Parts, 210 N. Bever St. The woman allegedly took a money bag with $320 and $12 allotted for Relay For Life from the business.

Burglaries

A Kindle Fire valued at $300 and cash totaling $20 were reported stolen March 1 from a residence in the 600 block of North Bever Street.

A PlayStation 3 was reported taken March 1 from a residence in the 4900 block of Pine Ridge Drive.

Thefts

A 2002 Suzuki motorcycle worth $3,000 was reported taken March 2 from a residence in the 200 block of South Buckeye Street.
