A 62-year-old Akron woman escaped unharmed Wednesday after two men with guns broke into her Kenmore home, police said.
The woman recognized one of the men as a friend of her son, police said. Detectives have issued a warrant for Mark E. Clay, 24, of Dorchester Road. He is charged with aggravated robbery and abduction in the case.
According to Akron police, the incident unfolded like this:
A woman who lives in the 800 block of Jason Avenue was talking on the phone at home about 10 a.m. when two men with guns unlocked the front door and came inside.
One of the men was wearing a mask; one wasn’t. The suspects held a gun to the woman’s head, made her get onto the floor and attempted to tie her up. The suspects then ransacked the house, taking the woman’s mobile phone before leaving.
The woman then walked to a neighbor’s home to call police.
Police warned that Clay should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators have not identified the second suspect, who was wearing a black ski mask and a blue coat.
