An Akron woman has been charged with stabbing her boyfriend in what police said began as an argument over chips and salsa.
When officers arrived at the Lake Street home around 4 p.m. Sunday, the suspect had fled in a car.
Ronnie D. Buckner, 61, told police that he and Phyllis D. Jefferson, 50, were arguing over who was eating all of the salsa when she stabbed him in the pelvis area with a pen. She then walked over to the television and was going to knock it on the floor, he told police.
As he grabbed the TV, she walked into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then cut him in the stomach, police said.
Authorities stopped her later on Interstate 77 just south of U.S. Route 224. She was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault and criminal damaging and booked into the Summit County Jail.
Buckner was taken to Akron General Medical Center, where his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
