Arrests
A Work Drive man, 36, was charged with breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools. Police said the man was found inside a vacant house.
A Herkender Avenue man, 49, was charged with receiving stolen property and drug abuse. Police said the man was driving a vehicle stolen in Pennsylvania.
A Sixth Avenue man, 21, was charged with tampering with evidence. Police said the man was the front-seat passenger of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and running red lights. Officers observed a scale thrown from the vehicle and recovered in the roadway. The man also changed seats with the driver.
A Clement Street man, 18, was charged with aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. Police said the man robbed a person at gunpoint and took an iPod. The man was apprehended and found with two guns and the iPod.
A Caddo Avenue man, 24, was charged with willful flee, resisting arrest, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing weapons illegally and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said the man was driving through the parking lot at East High School with his lights out. When he observed the police, he left at a high rate of speed. He then left his vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot chase. Officers found a loaded gun and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.
A Knox Avenue man, 31, was charged with breaking and entering. Police said the man was observed and photographed breaking into a 14th Street residence. When the man exited the house, he ran into the backyard where the police were waiting for him.
A Raymond Street man, 50, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass. Police said officers received a call that the man was breaking into cars on South Broadway Street. He was located by officers in front of the main library on South High Street and found to be in possession of stolen property.
A Warrington Road man, 46, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence. Police said the man assaulted another man causing lacerations to his head after he refused to give him the keys to his vehicle.
A Peckham Street man, 23, was charged with obstructing official business, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a defaced gun. Police said the man along with another man were stopped on West Lowell Avenue. The man was found to be in possession of a gun and stated he had a concealed carry permit. One gun was found to have the serial number plate pried off.
A Celina Avenue man, 25, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Police said officers were called to a Rentar Lane residence for a fight. The man was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.
A West Market Street woman, 47, was charged with theft. Police said the woman asked another woman for a ride and took her wallet. When she left the vehicle the woman noticed that her wallet was missing. She was apprehended on Hazel Street with the woman’s wallet.
A Baird Street woman, 19, was charged with complicity to commit felonious assault. Police said the woman was in a vehicle with a man and took his cellphone and wanted him to pay $50 for its return. The man refused to pay the money for it and left her vehicle and got into a vehicle with another male. Another passenger in the backseat of the woman’s vehicle then fired two shots into the other vehicle.
An Elbon Avenue man, 35, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing weapons illegally and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle. Police said officers received a call of a possible homicide suspect on West Thornton Street. Officers found the man inside a vehicle with an open container of beer and a revolver.
A Himelright Boulevard man, 21, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing weapons illegally and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Police said the man and another man were stopped for a traffic stop at Jonathan Avenue and Virginia Avenue and were found to be in possession of a loaded gun and drugs. The man was also found to be in possession of two Chase bank checks belonging to another person.
An East Glenwood Avenue man, 36, was charged with felonious assault. Police said the man along with four other men went to the Brooklands Bar and assaulted several patrons. One was a 20-year-old woman who required surgery to repair a broken jaw.
A 30th Street man, 44, was charged with domestic violence.
A South Adolph Street man, 54, was charged with domestic violence.

A Fourth Street Northwest man, 36, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Jan. 21 after police said he head-butted his girlfriend in the mouth.

A 32-year-old woman reported Jan. 19 someone took prescription medication and $20 from her purse.
Copley Township
Car fire
An Akron man, 28, told police his vehicle caught fire Jan. 29. The cause of the fire is unknown. Police are not sure if the fire was electrical or arson.
Trespass
A woman, 67, reported someone breaking into their garage on Jan. 29. She said an unknown person was using the garage as shelter. She found footsteps, used covers, and even defecation on the garage floor. She is now afraid the suspect might try to enter her home.
Intoxication
A Fresno man, 34, called police to inform them his ex-girlfriend was intoxicated at home with three children. Reporting officers decided to send the youngest child, who is 16 months old, to stay with his father. The mother called a neighbor to come over and look after the kids while she sobered up. Officers advised her to make better decisions when it came to alcohol.
Thefts
A Rothrock Road man, 61, told police someone stole his Diamondback Wildwood mountain bike. The bike is valued at $299.99.
A Bosworth Road man, 42, informed police he was the victim of identity fraud. According to the victim two credit cards were opened under his name without his knowledge. There were large transactions made on both credit card accounts. He has reported it to credit card agencies.

A Cope Drive woman, 18, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Jan. 20 after police said she took her mother’s phone and locked her out of the house.
An East Nimisila Road woman, 34, was jailed Jan. 17 on warrants for felony theft and driving under suspension.
Burglary
Jewelry and cash, total value $984, were reported stolen from a South Bender Avenue residence.
Thefts
A Greer Road resident said that his credit card was used on Oct. 23 to purchase items totaling $870 without his permission.
A $1,400 handgun was reported stolen from an open safe at the Gun Emporium on Portage Lakes Drive on Jan. 5 while the on-duty person was in another room.

A 38-year-old Brace Place man was arrested Jan. 24 on a warrant for complicity.

An Akron man, 35, told police someone had broken his rear window Jan. 27. He said he observed someone breaking out the window with an unknown object. Apparently, nothing was stolen.
Thefts
An Akron woman, 48, was arrested on theft charges Jan. 26. She allegedly tried to steal $454.75 worth of video games from the Fairlawn Target store. Store security caught her trying to conceal the items in her handbag. She has been banned from Target for one year.
An Akron woman, 50, was arrested for trying to steal from Macy’s Jan. 26. According to police reports she tried to steal $110.32 worth of clothing. She was caught by store security as she attempted to leave the store.
A Sam’s Club associate was arrested on theft charges Jan. 20. She allegedly stole a customer’s gift card. The customer had originally given her two $100 gift cards to make a purchase. There was $48.45 left on one card, but the associate gave the blank gift card back to the customer. She then took the one with money on it and made purchases at Walmart.
A Cleveland woman, 62, was arrested on theft charges Jan. 25. She allegedly stole $318 worth of female undergarments from Dillard’s. The suspect went to try on the clothing in the fitting room, but after associates checked the fitting room there was no merchandise inside. She has been banned from Dillard’s indefinitely.

A Rocky River man, 52, was booked at the Summit County Jail on Jan. 19 on a robbery charge and warrants for fraud and driving under suspension. He was accused of stealing three cartons of cigarettes from the BP gas station on South Arlington Road and was apprehended after a short foot chase.
Theft
A spokesperson for Gator Construction of Butterbridge Road, North Lawrence, said Jan. 24 that someone cut a construction trailer lock and took a rotating laser and other items, total value $3,680.
New Franklin
Bank fraud
A Meadowlark Drive man said Jan. 23 that several months earlier he found a cashier’s check for $1,960 in the mail and deposited it in his U.S. Bank account. He said he was recently notified by his bank that the check was fraudulent.

Burglary
A home in the 3900 block of Swain Drive was broken into Jan. 25. Two televisions and a video game system were among the items taken.
Theft by deception
A 56-year-old Doylestown woman reported Jan. 28 she went to a Norton pharmacy to pick up a prescription. When she arrived, she was told that the prescription was picked up Jan. 11 by someone else.

Arrests
A Mingo Trail resident, 39, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Jan. 25. He is accused of hitting his wife in the face and abdomen after she poured out a can of beer during an argument.
A Buena Vista Drive man, 47, was jailed on a charge of burglary Jan. 24 involving a case that began July 30.
A homeless man, 27, was jailed on a charge of breaking and entering Jan. 18 for an Oct. 20 break-in at Tim Davies Enterprises on Sypher Road. A computer monitor, cash and other items, total value $3,125, were stolen.
A Kent man, 23, of Woodard Avenue was jailed on a charge of gross sexual imposition Jan. 18. The alleged incident involved an underage female.

An Archmere Drive man told police Jan. 20 that hunting equipment, total value $1,000, was stolen from his property.

A 20-year-old Kent woman reported Jan. 20 she was assaulted while at a dance at the VFW Memorial Post, 3733 Fishcreek Road.
Thefts
A 58-year-old Peninsula woman reported Jan. 24 her wallet was stolen from a shopping cart at Acme Fresh Market at 4445 Kent Road.
A Call Road woman reported Jan. 19 that $1,800 worth of jewelry was taken from her jewelry box since Oct. 27.
An 80-year-old Marsh Road woman reported Jan. 23 that her purse was stolen from her shopping cart while shopping at Acme Fresh Market at 4445 Kent Road.
Sexual assault
On Jan. 26, police received a report of a sexual assault. The case is under investigation.
Police are investigating a report of sexual assault made by a 43-year-old Akron woman on Jan. 22. The woman reported she was sexually assaulted between 1975 and 1976 at a Pardee Road residence.
Tallmadge
Arrests
A 21-year-old Akron woman was charged Jan. 19 with failure to comply and child endangering. She is accused of fleeing police with a child in the vehicle on East Avenue. She is also suspected of stealing from a Brimfield department store.
A juvenile was charged Jan. 20 with threatening domestic violence. He is accused of threatening to kill his parents and burn down their house.
Thefts
Tools valued at about $2,000 were stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 100 block of Ferguson Drive on Jan. 22.
A 2012 Toyota Corolla was stolen from a parking lot in the 1500 block of Brittain Circle on Jan. 27.
Weapons
A loaded .38 Special handgun was found on Interstate 76 on Jan. 20. Police suspect the weapon was thrown from a moving vehicle because of scuff marks.

Arrests
A Hills and Dales Road Northwest man, 26, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Jan. 23 after a woman at the residence said he abused her verbally, held her on a bed, choked her and hit her several times in the back of the head.
A 31-year-old Clarendon Avenue Southwest, Canton, woman was booked on charges of forgery and felony receiving stolen property when arrested on a warrant Jan. 23.
A Ravenwood Avenue Northwest man, 24, was jailed on a charge of felony vandalism Jan. 22. Police said he fell asleep at a party at the Lake Cable Clubhouse on Fulton Drive Northwest, and after the place was locked up, he awoke and broke several items before he found an exit.
A Greenway Trail Northwest man, 46, was jailed on charges of assault and resisting arrest Jan. 19. Police said he assaulted a paramedic treating him at home, then hit a police officer on the hand.
Thefts
Between Jan. 18 and Jan. 22, police said nine catalytic converters, total value more than $2,000, were stolen from vehicles parked at an Everhard Road Northwest carport, at Hills and Dales Auto on Hills and Dales Road Northwest and at ResCare’s parking lot on Whipple Avenue Northwest.
Seventeen iPods and seven iPads were reported stolen from the hhgregg store on Dressler Road Northwest after locks were removed from display cases, a police report showed. Total value was not listed.
A Nobles Pond Drive Northwest man said a $799 iPad was stolen from his home office Jan. 16.
A laptop computer, iPad and other items, total value $2,590, were reported stolen Jan. 15 from a vehicle parked at the Geisen Haus on Promway Avenue Northwest.
A $500 iPhone and $150 were reported stolen during break-ins to vehicles parked at Grand Slam USA on Jan. 15.

A Lorrell Avenue Southwest woman told police Jan. 16 that someone used counterfeit checks drawn on her bank account to pay for purchases totaling $855.

A $584 laptop computer was reported stolen Jan. 11 from a North Main Street location where a window had been broken to gain entry.

A Sprucehaven Street Northwest resident told authorities Jan. 20 that her debit card was used at four Walmart and Target store locations in San Antonio, Texas, to charge $4,000 worth of merchandise.

A Wayne Township man reported Jan. 27 that someone tried to enter his house in the 2800 block of Fulton Road, but nothing was reported taken.
An East Union Township man reported Jan. 27 that his ex-wife came into his home in the 300 block of North Millborne Road and argued about a visitation agreement.
Possession of drugs
Cellphones and possible bath salts were reported taken Jan. 29 by a man who entered vehicles in a parking lot in the 7100 block of East Lincoln Way, East Union Township.
