Arrests
Two Eighth Street Southwest men, ages 19 and 21, were charged with felonious assault and aggravated burglary after they allegedly went to an 11th Street Southwest home, punched a resident several times and stomped on his head.
A Russell Avenue man, 24, was charged with kidnapping, domestic violence and menacing after he allegedly forced a woman to leave an apartment at gunpoint and then assaulted her.
A Merton Avenue man, 30, was charged with possessing weapons illegally and discharging a firearm in the city limits, and a Bertha Avenue man, 27, was charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits, tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. Officers were standing in front of a Merton Avenue home when they heard shots being fired behind the home. They walked around back and found the men with a silver handgun.
A Virginia Avenue man, 22, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon illegally. Police said he was involved in a fight with his girlfriend and ran inside an Arden Place home. Officers found him hiding in a closet where a loaded handgun was within reach.
A West Wilbeth Road man, 22, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle after police stopped his car following a shooting at a Manister Court residence and found a loaded gun.
An East Avenue man, 53, was charged with drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing weapons illegally, improper handling of a firearm and possession of an open container in a motor vehicle. Police stopped his car at Copley Road and Madison Avenue after he drove through a red light. Officers reported finding a loaded pistol in the trunk and drugs in the vehicle.
A Carlysle Street man, 21, was charged with robbery after he allegedly fought with security while trying to steal pliers from Sears at Chapel Hill Mall.
A West Cedar Street man, 32, was charged with domestic violence.

A South Plainview Drive woman, 36, was charged with domestic abuse Jan. 1 after she allegedly punched a man in the eye during a quarrel about their relationship.
An Akron man, 30, was charged with disorderly conduct Jan. 1 following a quarrel with his girlfriend. Officers said he was uncooperative when they talked with him at his home. He apparently left his girlfriend out in the cold.

A Stuart Avenue boy, 15, was charged with underage possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being unruly Jan. 1.
A Prange Drive man, 24, was charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business Jan. 3 after he allegedly assaulted his wife and gave a false identity to police.
A Falls Avenue woman, 26, was charged with obstructing official business and tampering with evidence Jan. 1 after she allegedly drove a 2002 Dodge Durango away from the scene of an accident at Second Street and Falls Avenue, then hid the vehicle.
Assault
A Florida man, 31, told police Jan. 1 that a woman, 31, punched him in the neck at a Main Street gas station. He declined to file charges.
Criminal mischief
A former employee is suspected of filling two door locks with super glue at Mr. Fun’s, 4130 State Road.
Fraud
A Center Street woman told police Jan. 1 that a car she bought in September showed 48,000 on the odometer. She recently discovered that the vehicle was documented as having 187,000 miles on it.
Theft
An Akron woman told police Jan. 1 that someone stole her purse at an Akron-Peninsula Road party center.

An Akron woman, 20, was charged with theft Dec. 31 after she allegedly tried to conceal $208 worth of clothes from Dillard’s at Summit Mall.
An Akron woman, 25, was charged with trespassing Dec. 29 at Summit Mall, where she has been banned since May. 17.
Menacing
A Morewood Road woman, 27, told police Jan. 2 that she has been receiving menacing texts and phone calls from her boyfriend’s ex-wife.

A Rothrock Circle woman told police that someone scratched the hood and side door of her car while she shopped.
Theft
A manager at Edible Arrangements on West Market Street told police Jan. 1 that someone forced open a back door and stole $95 from a register.

A Fourth Street Northwest man, 25, was charged with domestic violence Christmas Day after he allegedly choked and assaulted the mother of his child.
A West Park Avenue man, 48, was charged with domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted his wife in a car while driving home from a party Dec. 23.
An Akron man, 50, of Regay Drive, was charged with assaulting a West Park Avenue woman Dec. 21 in her home.

Police were investigating the reported rape Dec. 27 of a girl just three days before her 14th birthday.
Thefts
An official of the Barberton VFW Post 1666 on Sixth Street Northwest told police Dec. 23 that at least $3,000 is missing from video raffle machines since Oct. 1.
Numerous items valued at more than $825 were reported stolen Dec. 23 from a 14th Street Northwest home and shed, including a lawn mower and collectible comic books.

Someone stole a rifle, handgun, two handgun magazines and $500 from a Fairview Avenue home Dec. 6.

An air-conditioning unit and stainless-steel box, total value $4,000, were reported stolen Dec. 26 from Professional Plumbing on Portage Lakes Drive.
A $1,000 power box was reported stolen Dec. 23 from Time Warner Cable at Killian Road and South Main Street.

Someone stole $3,442 in sunglasses Dec. 12-19 from Sunglass Hut International at Westfield Belden Village Mall.
A $600 iPad belonging to Brown Mackie College on Munson Avenue Northwest was stolen from an instructor’s unlocked desk Dec. 20.
Someone ransacked two vehicles Dec. 18 on Old Bridge Avenue Northwest, stealing $750 in items.
A manager of Zenvesco on Whipple Avenue Northwest told police Dec. 18 that someone used the firm’s business card to make $6,917 in unauthorized purchases in Las Vegas.
A purse and its contents, including a cellphone, total value $900, were reported stolen Dec. 18 from a van on Drummond Drive Northwest.

Two air-conditioning units, total value $701, were reported stolen Dec. 16 from Sonic Stitching on North Main Street.

Several items totaling $1,720 were reported stolen Dec. 13 from a West Maple Street home.
Two flat-screen televisions and other items, total value $1,920, were stolen Dec. 7 from a Woodside Avenue Southeast home.

A man, 47, with no permanent address was arrested Dec. 27 in the 3400 block of Overlook Drive Northwest on a warrant alleging breaking and entering and receiving stolen property.
An Azalea Avenue Northeast resident, 42, was charged with domestic violence Dec. 24.

Arrests
Two Rittman brothers, ages 31 and 34, were charged Dec. 30 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence Dec. 30. Police found the men covered in mud next to a car stuck in a ditch at state Route 57 and Interstate 76. Police said both admitted driving the car before it became stuck.
Three people were arrested during a traffic stop Jan. 3 near state Route 94. The driver was charged with driving under suspension. A passenger, 26, was arrested on a Wayne County warrant alleging failure to appear in court on a drug-trafficking charge. A passenger, 28, had a warrant alleging failure to appear in court on a theft charge.
A Broad Street man, 21, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 1.

Police were investigating a Jan. 1 complaint of domestic violence at a Honeysuckle Drive residence.

Police received a report from Walmart, 222 E. Smokerise Drive, that someone stole items from the store and then tried to sell them at GameStop, 1154 Hinkle Drive.
