Summit County

Bath Township

Arrests

A 20-year-old woman was charged Sept. 5 with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer stopped her as she walked down the middle of North Hametown Road.

A 39-year-old woman was charged Sept. 4 with possession of cocaine and heroin. The drugs were found during a traffic stop, police said.

Coventry Township

Arrest

Summit County sheriff’s deputies jailed a Littledale Drive man, 55, on Aug. 29 on warrants charging theft and domestic violence, both felonies.

Burglary

An Organ Avenue resident told deputies Aug. 27 that someone entered her home and stole a diamond ring, a laptop computer and $200.

Theft

A Barberton woman reported Sept. 2 that a $1,500 kayak had been stolen from a South Main Street location.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

A 28-year-old Fourth Street man was charged Sept. 8 with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Police said they found a loaded handgun in the man’s vehicle.

A 27-year-old Marguerite Avenue man was charged Sept. 4 with felonious assault. He is accused of punching another man in the face, causing serious injuries.

A 44-year-old Hollywood Circle woman was charged Sept. 11 with making false alarms. She is accused of reporting her vehicle stolen during a burglary. Police discovered there was no burglary nor theft.

Arson

Someone attempted to set towels on fire inside a dryer at Falls Washer and Dryer, 1814 Portage Trail, Sept. 7.

Burglaries

A home in the 2300 block of Maitland Avenue was burglarized Sept. 7. Jewelry valued at $15,000 was taken.

An apartment in the 500 block of Meredith Lane was broken into Sept. 4. Several items were taken.

Child endangering

An Akron woman reported Sept. 8 that a man she knows allowed her 4-year-old daughter to steer a motor vehicle while she sat on the man’s lap. She was referred to the Cuyahoga Falls prosecutor.

Criminal damaging

Police investigated a complaint of several people throwing compact discs off the roof of a parking deck on Second Street.

Criminal simulation

It was reported Sept. 5 that someone has been making counterfeit checks on a business account and sending them to people to cash.

Identity theft

A woman reported Sept. 5 that someone used her personal information in an attempt to steal her retirement checks. Someone also called her bank and attempted to have money from her account transferred to another account.

Thefts

Three rings valued at $12,000 were taken from a home in the 1300 block of Chestnut Boulevard between Aug. 29 and Sept. 3.

A 64-year-old Silver Lake Village woman reported Sept. 4 that someone took her purse from a shopping cart while she was shopping in Acme Fresh Market, 2360 Bailey Road.

Fairlawn

Theft

An Akron woman, 42, was arrested for theft Sept. 9. Police said she tried to conceal merchandise from Walmart totaling $20 in her purse. Responding officers found she had already been banned from Walmart on Sept. 7.

Assaults

A Chamberlain Road woman, 21, told police her ex-boyfriend assaulted her and her girlfriend, 22, on Sept. 7. The man is accused of punching the friend and assaulting his former girlfriend. Later, he attacked them in the parking lot with his car, according to a report. One victim was admitted to an Akron hospital for multiple contusions to her right thigh, knee and elbow area. Police are still looking for the suspect.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Woodpark Road man, 50. On Sept. 8, a Kenridge Road woman told police he slapped and strangled her in front of their 7-year-old son. It happened while the suspect was driving her home., she said. He threatened to throw her belongings on the street during the arguments, which led to the assault, police said.

Arrests

A Ridgedale Drive resident, 26, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Sept. 3 after police said she hit her husband in the face after he took her cellphone during an argument.

An Akron man, 23, of Hartford Avenue was jailed on a charge of domestic violence during an altercation with his girlfriend at her Fortuna Drive home Sept. 2.

A Fairview Road man, 40, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Aug. 31, accused of pushing his girlfriend and causing her to fall.

Two counts of assault of a peace officer and two counts of resisting arrest, all felonies, resulted in a 19-year-old Koons Road man being jailed after he became combative Aug. 27, a sheriff’s deputy reported.

Thefts

A $1,700 lawn mower was reported stolen from a garage of a Pickle Road residence Aug. 30.

A Green resident told a sheriff’s deputy Aug. 29 that she was at TGI Friday’s restaurant on Interstate Parkway when someone removed $4,000 from her purse along with other contents.

A sterling silver set and $30,000 were reported stolen from an Acme Drive home and a bank account Aug. 25.

Arrests

A Florida woman wanted on a warrant from that state was arrested at a home in the 100 block of Ravenna Street on Sept. 7.

A Windham woman, under arrest on a charge of identity fraud, attempted to escape police during transport Sept. 6. She was treated at Western Reserve Hospital, then booked into Summit County Jail on a charge of escape.

Mogadore

Suspicious bottle

Officers were called to Somers Elementary on Sept. 10 after a janitor found the remains of a homemade bottle bomb on the grounds. It appears the device was set off elsewhere.

Vandalism

A Kavanaugh Drive resident called police Sept. 10 to report that someone used a golf ball to break a glass patio table.

New Franklin

Arrest

A Renninger Road man, 35, was jailed on a charge of domestic violence Aug. 31 after police said he became enraged because a woman asked him to leave the home.

Norton

Burglary

Rolled coins, totaling nearly $500, were taken during the burglary of a home in the 3200 block of Creekside Drive on Sept. 8.

Springfield Township

Arrest

An Akron man, 26, of Eastlawn Avenue was jailed on a charge of felony burglary Sept. 3 when a Swinehart Road man said he was on his riding mower when he saw the suspect open the back door of the victim’s home. The suspect’s dog was already in the kitchen when the victim yelled at the suspect not to enter. The man was arrested on the street in front of the victim’s home.

Thefts

A Canton Road resident said her vehicle was parked at home when someone made off with a laptop computer and other items, total value $900.

A set of golf clubs and other items, total value $1,845, were reported stolen from a Nidover Drive man’s car Aug. 28.

A power tool kit and other equipment, total value $1,237 and belonging to T&S Construction of Mogadore, were reported stolen from a Mogadore Road man’s vehicle parked at home.

An 18-year-old Barberton man was charged Sept. 4 with having a deadly weapon in a school zone.

Aggravated robbery

Witnesses reported Sept. 1 that a man brandishing a handgun at 7-Eleven on Steels Corners Road took more than $100 and 10 packs of cigarettes.

Burglaries

A home in the 4700 block of Waterford Circle was broken into Sept. 10. A computer and a backpack with books were taken.

A home in the 2000 block of Kemppell Lane was burglarized Sept. 9. A computer, watch and wallet were taken.

Domestic violence

Police are investigating a report of an assault on a 3-year-old Elm Way girl. According to a report of the incident, the girl had bruising on her upper right arm.

Theft

A 51-year-old Pebblehurst Drive man reported Sept. 8 a man defrauded him out of $500.

Cuyahoga County

Theft

An Oakbrook Drive resident called police Sept. 8 to report that aluminum and copper, a full gas can and a tool box were taken from the residence.

Medina County

Brunswick

Foot pursuit

Officers were called Sept. 6 to the 3700 block of Boston Road to assist the Strongsville Police Department with a foot chase. A 17-year-old Medina teen was in possession of a stolen .44-caliber handgun. A 16-year-old Brunswick teen was questioned. The Medina teen was determined to be responsible for thefts from vehicles in Strongsville and Brunswick.

Officers helped move a disabled car Sept. 10 that stalled in the FirstMerit ATM lane on North Court Street.

Fight

Officers were called to the Medina Public Library on Sept. 9 for a report of juveniles fighting in the lobby.

Medina Township

Domestic dispute

Officers were called to Huffman Road on Sept. 9 for a couple fighting over a lack of pop in the home to combat a migraine. The husband told officers he is planning to divorce his wife.

Montville Township

Citizen assist

Officers were called to the Burger King on Medina Road Sept. 5 to assist a woman who had become lost and could not find her way back to Stow. The woman’s father was nervous that if his daughter attempted to drive home she would again become lost.

Wadsworth

Arrests

A 53-year-old man was arrested Sept. 10 on a warrant for failure to pay child support.

A 67-year-old West Street man was arrested Sept. 5 on a warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.

Arrests

A 21-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman was charged Sept. 10 with robbery.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Lawrence Court woman Sept. 10 on two counts of assault.

A 26-year-old Irma Street man was charged Sept. 9 with domestic violence.

A charge of domestic violence was filed against a 38-year-old South Lincoln Street man Sept. 9.

Burglary

A residence in the 100 block of Summit Street was broken into Sept. 5. Electronics, valued at a total of $1,300, were taken.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

A Thackery Avenue Northwest man, 23, was jailed on a felony theft charge Sept. 1 after police said he admitted he took night deposits totaling $3,238 from Jimmy John’s restaurant on Dressler Road Northwest.

Police summonsed a 38th Street Northwest woman, 39, to Massillon Municipal Court on a theft charge Aug. 30 after she was arrested outside Macy’s in the Belden Village Mall. A police report said she selected women’s clothing totaling $858 and concealed the items in her purse without paying.

A Lorain man was jailed on a charge of aggravated menacing Aug. 28 after witnesses said he grabbed a hammer out of his truck and approached another man during an argument over scrap metal behind the Flower Factory on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

Breaking and entering

Someone broke into the Primavera Restaurant on Fulton Drive Northwest over the Labor Day weekend and stole a TV, computer, golf clubs and several cases of liquor, total value $9,400, a Sept. 2 police report showed.

Theft

An air-conditioning unit, total value $1,000, was reported stolen Aug. 28 from the east side of Cook’s Art Supply on Portage Street Northwest.

North Canton

Arrests

A Middlebranch man, 42, of Williams Street was booked on a charge of felony theft Sept. 4. He is accused of using a relative’s credit card without permission to obtain over $1,600.

A Mississippi Street Southeast woman, 21, was jailed Sept. 3 on a charge of domestic violence after police said she struck her mother during an altercation.

Felony charges of kidnapping and felonious assault plus one count of domestic violence were lodged against a Bachtel Street Southeast man, 38, after neighbors said they heard a female screaming inside the home and he was accused of choking her Sept. 2.

Police jailed a Schneider Street Southeast man, 60, on a charge of domestic violence and felony disrupting public services when he tried to keep a female from answering the door Sept. 1.

A Sunford Avenue Southeast woman, 47, was booked on a charge of domestic violence Sept. 1 after police said she assaulted her husband during an altercation.

Thefts

A Pershing Avenue Northeast resident told police Aug. 30 that someone cut the lock on a storage unit and stole all her winter clothes and jackets, total value $802.

Police were told Aug. 23 by a Green resident that her purse containing $7,000 was stolen from an unattended shopping cart in the parking lot of Gabriel Brothers on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

Plain Township

Arrests

Charges of domestic violence and endangering children were filed against a 34th Street Northeast man, 29, after police said he slapped his girlfriend and endangered a stepdaughter by breaking out a car window with a hammer. The child was cut.

A Regentview Avenue Northeast man was booked on a charge of domestic violence Sept. 4 following a struggle with his son.

Domestic violence was filed against a Lexington Township man, 49, of Betz Street. Police said he slapped his girlfriend at Nathan’s Bar on 30th Street Northeast on Aug. 31.

Accused of pushing his mother onto a couch, a Grove Street Northeast man was jailed on a charge of felony domestic violence Aug. 31.

A couple were jailed following an altercation at their 37th Street Northwest residence Aug. 28. The man, 20, was charged with domestic violence for choking the mother of their child. The woman, 23, was jailed on a disorderly conduct charge for using profanity and screaming after the man was arrested.

Uniontown

Theft

Police were told Aug. 27 that someone stole six used tires and 15 used metal parts, total value $500, from a scrap pile at Uniontown Tire & Auto on Cleveland Avenue Northwest.

Wayne County

Wayne Sheriff

Arrests

A Rittman man, 22, who was an inmate at the Wayne County Jail, was charged Sept. 4 with vandalism after he was accused of punching a kiosk machine, causing $2,195 in damage.

A Wooster man, 27, was charged Sept. 1 with illegal conveyance of drugs after deputies said they saw a bag of marijuana drop from his sock as he was being transferred from one cell block to another at the Wayne County Jail.

Breaking and entering

Doors were broken on two sheds Sept. 9 in the 7600 block of Ruff Road, Congress Township, but nothing was reported taken. Damage was estimated at $600.

Burglary

A Chippewa Township man reported Sept. 4 that door molding was damaged at his home in the 12800 block of Portage Street, but nothing seemed to be missing.

Thefts

A 2011 Mitsubshi worth $12,000 was reported stolen Sept. 9 from a driveway in the 7000 block of Ruff Road, Congress Township.

A lasher worth $3,500 was reported missing Sept. 9 from an electric pole on West Salem Road, Canaan Township.

A 2004 four-wheeler valued at $3,000 was reported taken Sept. 6 from a residence in the 8700 block of West Salem Road, Congress Township.

A tablet, 100 CDs and clothing worth $1,500 were reported taken Sept. 6 from a car in the 10300 block of East Lincoln Way, East Union Township. Damage to two windows was estimated at $600.

On Sept. 5, a window was reported smashed, causing $300 in damage, on a pickup truck in the 8000 block of Rohrer Road, Green Township. A wallet was taken from the truck.

Wooster

Breaking and entering

Copper pipes valued at $3,000 were reported stolen Sept. 9 from a residence in the 500 block of Catalina Avenue.

A door was reported kicked in and a window was broken Sept. 8 at Advanced Animal Care, 4401 Cleveland Road, but nothing appeared to be taken. Damage was estimated at $100.

Tools worth $170 were reported stolen Sept. 8 from a shed in the 200 block of Clark Avenue.

Burglaries

A door was reported broken Sept. 6 at a residence in the 1000 block of Fairfield Drive, which caused $300 in damage. The resident believed that jewelry might be missing from the home.

A PlayStation3, 26 Percocet tablets and other items, total value $445, were reported taken Sept. 9 from a home in the 2700 block of Cleveland Road.

A coin collection worth $610 was reported stolen Sept. 8 from a safe at a home in the 2400 block of East Smithville-Western Road.

Disrupting public service

A 28-year-old Wooster man was treated Sept. 6 at Wooster Community Hospital after he threatened his girlfriend, 33, and then stabbed himself at their residence in the 300 block of Spink Street. A psychological examination was ordered for the man.

Drug abuse

A Wooster man, 23, was treated at Wooster Community Hospital on Sept. 3 after police said he overdosed on heroin at a residence in the 300 block of Spink Street.

Identity fraud

A Hancock Street woman reported Aug. 29 that she had $747 taken from her checking account.

Menacing

A Wooster man, 30, reported Sept. 6 that a man used a voodoo doll to threaten him at the Salvation Army, 437 S. Market St. The victim brandished a knife and was taken to Wooster Community Hospital for evaluation.

Possession of drugs

Two men were found Sept. 5 with spoons and needles used for heroin at a residence in the 700 block of Spink Street, a report said.

Robbery

A 30-year-old Wooster man reported Sept. 7 that a man with a screwdriver tried to take a money bag from him in the 1700 block of Beall Avenue, but he was unsuccessful.

Thefts

A Gasche Street woman reported Sept. 7 that she sent $2,000 to an online seller for a pickup truck that she never received.

A 37-year-old Townsend Drive woman reported Sept. 5 that her credit card was stolen and used to purchase gasoline at Speedway, 1970 Cleveland Road.

An Oakmont Court woman reported Sept. 10 that she loaned $8,000 to people she knew but they have never repaid her.

A Sherwood Drive woman reported Sept. 4 that she gave $1,000 to a person for work at her home but it was never completed.
