Summit County

Akron

Arrests

A Nestor Avenue man, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm in city limits after he allegedly fired five shots into the air following a quarrel.

A Warner Court woman, 30, was charged with felonious assault, domestic violence and obstructing official business after police said she cut her children’s father on the side of the head with a knife. He was treated at a local hospital.

An East Glenwood Avenue man, 46, was charged with robbery after he allegedly fought with store security while trying to steal steaks from Aldi’s on South Arlington Street.

A Green man, 19, of Koons Road, was charged with auto theft, criminal trespassing and theft after he allegedly stole a vehicle from the parking lot at Akron General Medical Center, broke into other cars and took personal belongings. All items and the vehicle were recovered and returned to the owners, police said.

An East Buchtel Avenue man, 22, was charged with domestic violence and menacing after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and threatened to kill her.

A Dayton Street woman, 26, was charged with domestic violence and menacing after she allegedly assaulted her mother.

Bath Township

Forgery

A Medina Road woman reported Aug. 13 that her ex-roommate forged her name to a check written to both of them. The ex-roommate agreed to pay the woman’s portion of the money by month’s end.

Misuse of a credit card

A man reported Aug. 13 that someone used his bank card for illegal purchases at a local store.

Copley Township

Damage

Police were called Aug. 24 after juveniles threw yard signs at cars, damaging some vehicles.

Arrest

A man, 53, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 23 after his wife called police from her car to say her husband was chasing her and was armed. He was arrested at Copley Road and Centerview Drive.

Coventry Township

Arrests

A Barberton man, 35, of West Lake Avenue, was charged with aggravated menacing and criminal trespassing Aug. 16 after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend over the home and showed up at her Coventry home.

An Akron woman, 37, of Grant Street, was arrested Aug. 9 on a warrant alleging escape and the theft of candy, total value $13.50, from the Dollar General store on Manchester Road.

Forgery

A Dot Court resident told a deputy Aug. 18 that the Internal Revenue Service notified her that someone filed an $8,977 income tax return in the name of her deceased husband.

Theft

Two security cameras and a metal sign, total value $1,590, were reported stolen Aug. 15 from the Sahara Home Owners Association building on Boat Drive.

Cuyahoga Falls

Arrests

Police charged 118 adults with having open containers of alcoholic beverages Aug. 21 in the parking lot of Blossom Music Center, 1145 W. Steels Corner Road, on the night of the Luke Bryan concert. A Columbus man, 24, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Burglary

Someone broke into an apartment Aug. 23 in the 200 block of West Portage Trail.

Someone broke into a home Aug. 25 in the 2700 block of Norwood Avenue and took $1,500.

Cash was stolen from a home Aug. 26 in the 2400 block of 21st Street.

Identity theft

A 27th Street woman, 34, reported Aug. 23 that someone used her personal information to withdraw $800 from her bank account.

A Sourek Trail man, 26, reported Aug. 23 that someone used his personal information to make three unauthorized purchases totaling nearly $1,000.

A Franklin Avenue woman, 37, reported Aug. 22 that someone used her personal account to open a cable account, leaving almost $400 in unpaid bills.

Robbery

Police were investigating the robbery of a 16-year-old girl who was walking Aug. 23 on Tallmadge Road. She told police that two males, one of whom she knew, jumped from the bushes, pushed her to the ground and took her sandals and $15 from her pocket.

Sexual assault

An Eighth Street woman, 20, reported an incident of unwanted sexual contact in her home by someone she knows.

Theft

Tools valued at more than $30,000 were stolen Aug. 21-24 from an unlocked garage in the 800 block of Curtis Avenue.

A Fifth Street woman, 73, reported Aug. 22 that someone took her $150 ring and pawned it while she was in the hospital.

Several vehicles in the city were broken into Aug. 23. A wallet and cash were among the items taken.

Fairlawn

Threats

A Wells Fargo employee from the office at Embassy Parkway told police he received a threatening voicemail from a client Aug 26. The client, 60, said, “I’m going to hunt you down and kill you.”

A Stanley Road man, 56, told police Aug. 25 that his mother-in-law is harassing his family. He said she had been leaving harassing letters in his mailbox, abusive messages on his answering machine and even pulling into his driveway and yelling and blowing her horn.

Thefts

A LensCrafters employee told police a woman stole five pairs of sunglasses Aug. 25 while posing as a customer.

A Smith Road woman, 55, told police she that an unknown man used her identity in an attempt to file a joint tax return with her. She is disabled and does not file taxes.

A Medina man, 18, was charged with theft Aug. 24 after he allegedly tried to steal $82 of merchandise from Macy’s at Summit Mall. Store security noticed him leaving the fitting rooms with less merchandise than when he entered and didn’t find any clothing in the fitting room.

A Stow woman, 32, was charged with theft Aug. 24 after she refused to pay for services at Braids and Naturals on Shiawassee Avenue because she wasn’t satisfied with her daughter’s hair braids. Officers arrested her during a traffic stop.

Arrests

An Akron woman, 46, of Indianola Avenue, was charged with telecommunications harassment and menacing Aug. 13 after she allegedly threatened a Lindale Circle resident with physical violence.

A Fairway Drive man, 30, was charged with telecommunications harassment Aug. 11 after he allegedly used text messages to harass the mother of his child.

Aggravated robbery

A Fortuna Drive woman told deputies that a gunman confronted her Aug. 20, ordered her to enter her room and stole two cellphones and a computer tablet.

Burglary

A stove and refrigerator, total value $800, were reported stolen Aug. 13 from a Lott Drive house listed as a foreclosure.

Passing bad checks

A South Arlington Road man told sheriff’s deputies that he sold an espresso machine on Craigslist to a business and received a check for $2,430 and then learned the check was drawn on a closed account.

Theft

A crossbow, scope, two rods and two reels, total value $1,380, were reported stolen Aug. 18 from a Laburnum Drive garage.

Arrests

A Barlow Road woman, 41, was charged Aug. 22 with domestic violence.

Mogadore

Arson

Officers responded to a fire in a trash bin at Lions Park on Aug. 23. A neighbor reported seeing four or fives boys and two girls running from the park around the time of the fire.

New Franklin

Burglary

Someone broke into a Stutz Avenue garage Aug. 12 and stole a trolling motor and power tools, total value $1,864.

A Clinton resident on North Third Avenue told police Aug. 10 that someone entered the home and stole jewelry and medications, total value $1,705.

Theft

A Clinton woman told police Aug. 14 that someone stole $25,000 from her home in the past month.

Child endangering

A Clark Mill Road woman called police Aug. 22 to report a naked toddler walked to her house and was sitting on her porch for about 45 minutes. The child’s mother walked to the home after police arrived. She said her aunt was supposed to be watching the child while she napped, but her aunt, who is ill, fell asleep. The officer suggested childproof locks for the doors.

Identity theft

A Hartzell Drive man told police Aug. 25 that someone used his personal information to open a utility account.

Theft

Someone stole $700 in welding gear Aug. 21-23 from Star Point Extrusions, 3985 Eastern Road.

Stow

Arrests

An Akron man, 21, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest Aug. 27. He is accused of fleeing police who were arresting him on a warrant. Officers reported finding suspected heroin and a used hypodermic needle.

Burglary

Someone broke into a home Aug. 25 in the 3900 block of Kent Road and stole a television, checks and a 2004 Ford Explorer.

Breaking and entering

Someone broke into an abandoned home in the 4100 block of Darrow Road on Aug. 21.

Identity theft

An Oregon man told police Aug. 23 that someone advertised his Hibbard Drive property for rent on Craigslist.

Arrests

A Winslow Drive man was charged with domestic violence Aug. 25.

An Akron man, 48, was arrested Aug. 27 on an assault warrant.

North Royalton

Suspicious man

A Royalhaven Drive resident called police to report that two men came to her door and asked her son if his parents were home. When he told the strangers they were inside, the men said they “would come back when they were not home.”

Medina County

Brunswick

Arrests

Officers tried to stop a vehicle Aug. 22 that had fled Laurel Hill Apartments. After a brief chase, the occupants jumped out of the car and ran. Two Brunswick men, both 21, two Brunswick women, 22 and 18, and a Valley City man, 21, were arrested on charges ranging from obstructing official business to disorderly conduct to drug offenses. A Brunswick man, 18, was arrested on a warrant out of the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

Medina

Fight

Police were called to a North Court Street business Aug. 29 for a report of a fight. The combatants damaged a Lexus.

Medina Township

Damage

Police were called to a Pearl Road residence Aug. 26 after a neighbor knocked too hard on a door and broke the glass. The neighbor offered to pay to get glass fixed. Both residents were told to stay in their rooms and “go to bed.”

Montville Township

Damage

A motorist complained Aug. 25 that something was thrown at his vehicle on Wadsworth Road near Poe Road. The impact shattered the windshield, causing small shards of glass to land on a passenger.

Wadsworth

Arrests

During a traffic stop Aug. 22, police charged a driver with marijuana possession and arrested a passenger on a felony warrant.

A Norton woman, 30, was charged with theft Aug. 22 after she allegedly took $1,000 in merchandise from Kohl’s, 1119 Williams Reserve Blvd.

Theft

A woman reported Aug. 23 that someone stole her purse in the 100 block of Park Center Boulevard.

Stark County

Jackson Township

Arrests

An Akron man, 25, of Roswell Street, was arrested Aug. 19 on a Jackson police warrant alleging domestic violence.

An Akron man, 22, of Crestview Avenue, was charged with improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle after police found a handgun and loaded magazine in the glove box of his car during a traffic stop on Whipple Avenue Northwest at 18th Street.

A Canton woman, 31, of Ninth Street Southwest, was arrested Aug. 13 on a warrant alleging felony misuse of credit cards.

A Coventry Township couple, both of Radnor Avenue, were arrested Aug. 17 after they allegedly took $552 worth of groceries from the Acme on Whipple Avenue Northwest. The man, 58, was charged with theft. The woman was charged with complicity to theft, criminal trespassing and drug possession.

A Canton man, 38, of 15th Street Northeast was charged with robbery Aug. 15 after he allegedly took several bottles of vodka, total value $374 from the Acme on Whipple Avenue Northwest and fought with a security officer. The man was wanted on a warrant alleging complicity to petty theft.

Breaking and entering

An $1,100 laptop computer was reported stolen Aug. 20 from the Cbord Group on Stephen Circle Northwest after someone broke a window to gain entry.

Thefts

Two floor mats, total value $580, were reported stolen from the Basement Sports Bar & Grill on Whipple Avenue Northwest. A report indicated a couple took the mats as they exited the bar Aug. 16.

Nine pairs of sunglasses, total value $2,250, were reported stolen Aug. 13 from Lenscrafters on Belden Village Street Northwest.

A Harris Avenue Northwest woman told police Aug. 12 that a $1,500 laptop computer was stolen from her residence.

Arrest

A Shillingford Circle Northwest man was charged with domestic violence Aug. 20 after he allegedly pushed and hit his daughter.

Plain Township

Arrests

A Wolverine Avenue Northeast woman, 63, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 17 after she allegedly assaulted two individuals at her home.

A Caprice Avenue Northwest resident was arrested on a domestic violence warrant Aug. 16 in the 2100 block of Market Avenue North.

A Demington Avenue Northwest man, 35, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 14 after he allegedly pushed his wife against a wall and choked her.

Burglary

Someone entered a Middle­branch Avenue Northeast home Aug. 3 and took an $800 computer.

Uniontown

Lost property

A Plain Township resident attending the Uniontown Lions Club Festival told police Aug. 13 that she lost her $7,000 wedding ring after it fell off her finger. Volunteers, officers and relatives could not find.

Theft

Hartville Collectibles on Edison Street Northwest reported Aug. 12 that a female shoplifted 20 “Life is Good” T-shirts and six figurines, total value $800.

Wayne sheriff

Arrest

A East Union Township man, 55, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 21 after he allegedly struck his mother at their home on Silver Pond Drive.

Breaking and entering

A four-wheeler valued at $933 was reported stolen Aug. 26 from a shed in the 9000 block of McFadden Road, Clinton Township.

A paint sprayer worth $900 was reported stolen Aug. 22 from a barn in the 15000 block of Franchester Road, Congress Township.

Furniture worth $1,205 was reported stolen Aug. 23 from a storage unit on Geyers Chapel Road, Wooster Township.

Thefts

Copper wiring worth $800 was reported stolen Aug. 25 from a cell tower in the 4100 block of East Tolbert Road, Franklin Township. Damage to a fence and equipment were estimated at $600.

Copper wire valued at $500 was reported taken Aug. 21 from a cell tower in the 500 block of South Apple Creek Road, East Union Township. A fence was broken causing $600 in damage.

An air-conditioning unit valued at $3,500 was reported stolen Aug. 23 from a home in the 2500 block of Happy Valley Road, Wayne Township.

Wooster

Arrests

A Wooster woman, 37, was charged with assault, domestic violence and resisting arrest Aug. 25 after she allegedly hit a woman, 36, at a home in the 100 block of Prospect Street. She also is accused of assaulting a Wooster man, 20.

A Wooster man, 44, was charged with violating a protection order Aug. 23 after he allegedly contacted his ex-wife at Walmart, 3883 Burbank Road.

Breaking and entering

A PlayStation 3 and a laptop computer, total value $880, were reported stolen Aug. 24 from a home in the 2700 block of Cleveland Road.

Burglaries

A Wooster woman, 60, reported Aug. 25 that she believes someone broke into her home in the 1000 block of Pittsburgh Avenue, but nothing was missing.

A PlayStation 3, eight games and other items, total value $1,170, were reported stolen Aug. 26 from a home in the 1900 block of Brookside Drive.

An Xbox, five games and other items, total value $335, were reported stolen Aug. 26 from a home in the 900 block of Gasche Street.

A wallet and identification cards were reported stolen Aug. 27 from the rectory of St. Mary’s Church, 527 Beall Ave. Later in the day, a man and a woman were reported trying to obtain money using the victim’s identification card.

Forgery

A Wooster woman, 50, accused her ex-husband Aug. 20 of forging her signature to cash a $59 check.

Identity fraud

A Wooster man, 55, reported Aug. 22 that someone used his identity.

Possession of drugs

A pipe with drug residue was found Aug. 20 in a car during a traffic stop at state Route 585 and Long Road.

Thefts

A checkbook was reported stolen Aug. 23 from a home in the 600 block of Bechtel Path and a check later was forged.

A toolbox, $30,000, three televisions and other items, total value $34,050, were reported stolen Aug. 24 from a car in the 4000 block of Inverness Drive.

Golf clubs, a GPS and other items, total value $2,652, were reported stolen Aug. 24 from a car in the 4700 block of Deer Creek Drive.

Shoes, clothing and other items, total value $400, were reported taken Aug. 24 from a car in the 4300 block of Woodlake Trail.

A wallet and credit cards were reported stolen Aug. 28 from a car in the 1700 block of Pine Cove Drive.
